I'm really loving SL now and am currently reading the manga too, the relationship between Haru and Ren is so cute and fluffy, though Haru is a bit possessive. Yes, Ren is best boy, and best shota! He's so kawaii... I want him as my younger brother..

I know what you mean watching Haru x Ren moments are the best xD What was Deen thinking when they decided to make the anime only 10 episodes plus an Ova which comes out next year ahhh I'm gonna die when it ends :/

Episode 8

Ren may be smart, but he still has quite a lot to learn as his Japanese essay was crap and he hardly knows anybody. On top of that, he can't smile, but that's something that isn't going to happen overnight. And then there's Shima tutoring Natsukawa mainly because of their similar family situations as her parents are also dead and she's living with her grandmother. Not exactly the ideal situation for her, but Shima is not one to let things be as they are. And then Haru tells Ren that smiles can't be forced and that the time will come, and that's when he has to smile. Very nice way to for the two to bond, while that's some good development for Shima.

When it comes to smiling, Ren fails in epic fashion.

Episode 9

Talk about depressing, and not to mention the rainy season. Ren's life sure is dull, especially since it's too wet to go walking the dog. And when he is about to e-mail Haruko, he finds a hentai DVD in the computer and is subjected to the forbidden desires. Of course, when Haru finds out, he lets him know that the real thing is better than anything on DVD. And shortly afterward, Haruko is coming over, which is something that Haru is really dreading. One more episode left to go, and things got depressing fairly quickly.

And here's Haru doing real-life yaoi seeing that the time has come for Ren to experience something like this.

The bathroom scene where Ren had a boner was much tamer than in the manga. In the manga they elaborated it more by showing Ren's expression when Haru was giving him a hand job..

That aside, I'm sad that there's only 1 more episode left, final episode next week will end with a cliffhanger, though if you read the manga you'd know that there's nothing to worry about..

I'm so sad that I won't be able to see Ren, Haru, Shima, Aki, and everyone else after next week... My Wednesdays won't be the same, plus Bungo Stray Dogs will also end in 3 weeks. OMG, how could I live? My life would be so empty...

I WANT SEASON 2 NOW!!!

I don't know what Studio Deen was thinking by giving this only 10 episodes It should have been a 2 cour with 12 episodes each. They were doing 1 chapter per episode, so there would still be enough material to be adapted from the manga to make a 24 episodes (Last chapter I read was Chapter 26).

As Haru_no_hana has said the anime was much tamer than the manga (I wish it were a bit more "full on").

With roughly a chapter an episode I don't know exactly how they're going to end it as the story unfolds a lot from chapter 10 with new characters shortly after etc.

Needless to say I hope a series 2 is announced at the end of next weeks episode!!

Episode 9: Rainy Season

Lol that boner scene though. I mean someone has to explain his adolescence to him. Especially since most of the information he gets is from Haru or Haruko.

Ren is such a tsundere though. He doesn't understand love yet or why he is feeling that way. But that DVD sure made him realize his feelings a bit more though

Since next week is the last episode it's going to be interesting how they wrap it up since Haruko is coming and we have the lawyer asking about something, curious to see how they tie up loose ends.

It wasn't mentioned at the end, but a second season is coming this winter.

Episode 10 (Season 1 Finale)

And here comes Haruko visiting Ren and Haru is dreading her visit. She is there to speak with a lawyer regarding Ren and the truth about him is revealed as his birthname is Allen, he is originally from Seattle, and his birth mother sold him for drugs and died shortly after. That's just sad, and while Haruko can be a handful to deal with, she loves him as a son. She tried to send him to Switzerland, but that won't happen, not after Haruko punched him. And then the story is to be continued.

You better not piss off Haruko by calling her an old hag because she's quite the storm.

Final Thoughts

This is a show that I thought I wouldn't be able to get in given the fujoshi audience this show was made for, but it ended up being enjoyable. The comedy is nice, especially the parts where Ren is finding out that things in Japan are much different than in Canada, and that's what got me into this show, but it does a great job in building relationship in just ten episodes. Of course, the progression is not as far as it should have gone, but given the type of show this is it suffices. The show has two major faults in that the progression is uneven and inconsistent, largely a by-product of taking a different approach than the manga, and that Haru can be a handful to put up with with that immature behavior of his. But in all, I'm very pleased with this show and I look forward to watching the second season of this overlooked gem.

It was mentioned in the Japanese broadcast apparently, and MAL is mentioning it in the news.

Super Lovers (S1) Finale 6/10

Ah, I like Haruko-san she's great. Just the thing both Ren and Haru need to be kept in check. Either way I just love her attitude towards everything.

Not sure if that story was legit about Ren's past when Haruko was talking to the lawyer lady. They said it's possible but not for certain right? Still a nice touch up on the origins of Ren.

Other than that I felt like nothing really happened this episode beside the arrival of Haruko and A little more on Ren. Just the usual things tha happen in this show

Final Thoughts on the Season

That being said, due to there not being any closure or leaving it open ended, it seems like plans for a second season were already in motion. And with the confirmation of the series coming back in 6 months it'll be awhile and maybe they'll even make it a little longer. Now I don't know why I watched this as it is not my cup of tea but I don't really drop cause when I start something I finish it. But this wasn't as hard to watch as I was expecting it to be. Despite all the yaoi tendencies the story wasn't too bad. Developing a relationship with someone who you are suddenly told to take care of, someone who would seem introverted and then discovering a new side to them as you get closer. It was all about relationships which was nice. Animation quality was surprisingly good, OST was fitting for the show. All in all despite not being my type of thing it was nice. Good to throw this out for the ladies that put up with the guy's yuri and ecchi stuff. DOn't know why guys are so sensitive to this kind of thing and girls are more tolerable to yuri per se. But that's a topic for a different discussion.
