This is kinda ridiculous, after all, it's just literature. I do understand the fact that maybe parents should know, but.

Banning a certain book does nothing. All it does is make a person to want to read it even more. Now I'm in the mood to find this book and read it.

Well, parents just need to do what I did in english class a decade ago. Simply put, if you don't want the kids reading the book, then the school cannot force you to as it is just literature. I do not see how this book should be mandatory part of a formal education. Personally, I think it is bullshit to require fiction to be studied as part of mandatory education.

In my case, it was study of Shakespeare. Well, I was failing the class and downright refusing to do the related work. Reason? Simply put I felt the class was wrong on stance. Unlike supported science, the study and analysis of fictional works is entirely opinion. I was passed because they could not debate that my opinion was incorrect. My opinion that Shakespearean plays were nothing more than entertainment for the public could not be discredited.

As it should be with literature. Why is that specific book required? Why is anime and manga not part of literature? It comes down to the tastes and opinions of who sets the cirriculum. Forcing an ideology onto people. It is just the same as if public schools mandated religious studies. Force of belief. It should be absolutely within a parent's right to not have their child forced to study what they otherwize won't like.

I know of that book, it was garbage in my opinion. If I was required to read it in school? Well, it would have been like the deep analytical study of shakespeare.

"Is comedic entertainment for the 16th century impoverished in globe theatres and has no deeper meaning than that."

They are being beligerent about censorship in an article that had nothing to do with censorship, and only about the concept of allowing families to decide what their kids get in terms of fictional entertainment. Sensationalist trash news best left for reddit.

Funny part is teacher was protesting the concept of letting parents choose what literature to read. There never was censorship at all in any part of the discussion. Only that families choose what their family is exposed to.

BOLD FOR ALL! IF YOU READ THE ARTICLE, TEACHER WAS TRYING TO GET IT SO THE STUDENTS HAD TO READ IT AND BLOCK A BILL THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED PARENTS TO EXEMPT THEIR KIDS

Hrm... maybe that is why people cannot read anymore so force what to read?
