Episode 1

Chihiro's mother has died, so he's off to live with his uncle Madoka. As it turns out, her mother was cut off from the main family by her own choice and decided to live the life of poverty. So he moves in, and finds that the place is a dumpster that needs to be cleaned up, and by showing that he has what it takes to keep the house all nice and tidy that he is hired to be his house cleaner, but he has to wear that frilly outfit. Madoka happens to be a well-known fashion designer, and seeing that he's pulling all-nighters that it's no wonder his mansion is a mess. That's a solid start to this as Chihiro shows that he's capable, while Madoka is a pretty funny guy.

Yeah, this show isn't the type for me. While I enjoy some series with the butler/maid theme (Hayate the Combat butler being one of my favorite series based on the manga), I'm finding the comedy to be a rather mixed bag.

Chihiro's personality doesn't impress me either. I can't say the show is bad though. It's kinda funny at times but nothing great. Going to stick around to see what they'll do with this show.

Shonen Maid EP 1 / Those Who Do Not Work Shall Not Eat

The Surprise of the Season IMO

A great under the radar surprise anime A sad start but that is full of kindness / comedy / and life lessons I get The Devil is A Part Timer / maybe even Barakamon feel especialy with the Uncle and ass't who is great Incle is like his mother.

Chihiro Komiya as the sad boy who doesnt have anything other dies ( she left a wealthy family to have him.orking cleaning just enough for food is found by his uncle a overbearing man who is quite fond of him and reminds him of his mother but his mansion is a mess!

This where the comedy kicks in Chihiro doesnt want a hand-out but see the Mansion is treally filthy and is a super person when it comes to cleaning. As the EP goes on you can a sense of a friendhip ( parenting like in Barkamon)

But the likeness to Devil is A Part Timer really stands out Chihiro to survive and is offered a job to clean . But interasctions between him / his uncle Madoka and his Mgr Keiichirō make for some fuy moments

Those two act like Sadou and Shiro / Devil Is A Part Timer ( Sadao's housekeeper.)with great punch lines by Keiichirō which makes for fine comedy

But Chihiro finds out his uncle is a costume designer worling on A Big Play and sees out hard he works He is reminded of his nother's note to work hard which could appky to both and sees a glimpse of his mother in his uncle who knows a secret about his mother,

Chihiro Komiya VA Natsumi FUJIWARA has done only 3 anime

A Better Review than mine

First Impressions – Shounen Maid / Lost In America / Guardian Enzo

Shounen Maid is a series that will surprise a lot of people – if they give it the chance.

Im not sure I’ve seen many anime as widely – and wildly – misjudged in advance as Shounen Maid. Part of it is no doubt a function of its premise and the promo art, but there’s also an unfortunate confluence of events that’s part of the problem. It happens to share most of a title with a rather infamous shotacon hentai with which it shares absolutely nothing in tone or substance, and it’s premiering in the same season with a show that actually has the creeper element that so many assume Shounen Maid has (and doesn’t).

I’ve been defending Shounen Maid from these misconceptions, as I’ve read the manga (what little of it is translated) and like it a lot. But I think even I’ve been kind of of selling it short, because I think the premiere was really outstanding. I was quite surprised to see this series get an adaptation in the first place, since it’s not especially popular in Japan and largely unknown outside it. And frankly, it would stand a better chance of being a hit if it actually was the type of show most who don’t know the material seem to assume it is. But there you go – we actually did get an anime and even if it’s a one-cour adaptation of an ongoing manga, I’m glad to have it. Gift horses and all that.

Similar basic premise as Hayate the Combat Butler, but with different personalities and and very different sort of humor, making it a rather different sort of show.

I was pleased to see that the frilly maid outfit had a reason other than tropey perviness. Even though Uncle does seem a bit eccentric and probably a little pervy, the outfit was just a tease, and made sense coming from a costume designer. And so it's kind of poking fun at the trope at the same time.

It seems watchable, but maybe a bit too sappy. I'll keep watching to see.

(Why are there not more posts here? Have so few people given it a try?)

Ep 1

I can understand, between the synopsis and the promo art, why this show isn't getting a lot of traffic. It probably isn't for everyone, but I found myself enjoying it in its entirety (though I've read what has been translated of the manga). Chihiro sure is going through some bad times with his mother dying. Now he has to move in with his uncle and agrees to clean his new home as payment for having a place to stay. There is going to be heartwarming and serious moments in the future (assuming it's all adapted) and I think there is potential here to be a real hidden gem this season.

Episode 2

Here comes Miyako, who is in love with Madoka, but she doesn't see eye-to-eye with her father. So she takes on being a maid herself learning from Chihiro and while she's clumsy, at least she is trying hard. And speaking of failing, it turns out that Chihiro can't do everything seeing that he burned through so many eggs in making rolled omelettes for Madoka's bento. The rest go to his friends at school, who followed him home to find out everything about him. But in the end, everybody is learning, and this episode is all about using failures to make things right someday as Chihiro's mother was like that as well. Pretty cute episode this is.

And here's Miyako all dolled up in her maid outfit. She's really cute, and certainly she fits in with the rest.

There's surprisingly little interest in this anime, here. This show is certainly up there this season, for me, too, and Chihiro is so very easily the most adorable character this season. I like a nice chill anime, and I feel like this one balances everything a little better than everything else I've watched so far.

Shonen Maid EP 2 /Failure Is the Mother of Success

This anime has drama / comedy / and really good life lessons / especially with the new cast and his school friends and the rolled omelettes!

Miyako shows up at the Mansion. Chihiro finds out she is supposed to marry Madoka but actually likes Keiichiro and ran away because her father thinks she is uselles at basic chores.

So when she finds out about Chihiro she wants him to teach her with disaster follwing every turn. She is really devasted as she is trying hard. but Chihro gets her on track . She evens cooks a meal but 2 hours late.

Madoka puts on a puppet show to chher them on and then her father comes over and sees them really close and calls off the marriage which is what Madoka wanted and Miyako is relieved but restricted . She comes over on Sundays to take cooking lessons but her real beau Keiichiro is off!

What is next Chihiro is tired of Madoka making the kitchen a mess and it leads to what does he like !But he says everything ! So Chihiro tries a bunch of meals from a cookbbok ans sees rolled omelettes which his mom made really well ! He makes them too but are burnt .

But it come to light she first started making then for Madoka ( her brother and was trial and error.A very nice touch to his mom.

Chihiro is going back to school soon and runs into his friends who worry about him but his story seems forced so they follow him to the mansion and find him wearing the maid outfit and?? him heavily . But the truth comes out and all is good!

There's no new episode this week in light of the situation following the earthquake. Episode 2 did air a day later than usual, but this week it will be skipped entirely. Episode 3 will be airing next Friday, April 29. Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto will air after taking last week off.

Well I watched it with zero expectations and ended up actually liking it.

I really believed that it would be sort of gender bending fujoshi-fare stuff. And while the protagonist does have a lot of feminine attributes that are obviously supposed to make him more appealing to certain fan demographics, I'm not getting the creepy factor that I had expected when going in to it. The cross dressing is just a minor sight gag at best, and the uncle may well be a pervert in some minor ways, but he's also a pretty genuinely nice guy as well.

All in all it's just a feel good light comedy that appeals to a much broader base than I previously thought.
