Plot Summary

Sighing, leaning on his elbows, sleepy eyes. Tanaka-kun is a boy that basically doesn't try but isn't disliked. This is a laid-back youth comedy about Tanaka-kun and the quiet Oota who can't leave him alone.

Episode 1

And so it begins with Tanaka taking a siesta under a tree at school, and he was so into dreamland that he had to be hauled back to class by Ohta. Tanaka is just feeling so out of reality, and he nearly hurts somebody throwing his racket in gym class, and he's chewing bread is such a lazy way that his mouth bleeds. Next day, Tanaka is doubly listless, but despite snoozing like there's no tomorrow, he's surprisingly good at the piano. And it's off to the dentist for Tanaka seeing that he was so asleep. That was amusing, but the jokes about his listlessness got tiring pretty quickly that I'm not exactly sure how they can fill 12 episodes with this kind of stuff. Next time, a girl shows up who has some sort of attachment with Tanaka.

Those eyes...

Yeah I'm not sure how they plan to fill an entire series of 12 episodes with this premise. For what's worth, Tanaka is not the most fun character to watch. Theme songs are nice though and seems like Tanaka may have an admirer.

This dude really is the Anti-Sakamoto. He'd be a zen master if, y'know, he actually gave a shite.

I'll be back for more next week. I don't know what it is, exactly, but there's potential here.

And, yeah, like one of the commenters said, Ohta's a total bro. I can root for the guy.

I didn't expect to see such a lackluster response.

Of the anime starting this season, Tanaka is probably my favourite guy. I'll agree that it is questionable how they'll manage to fill twelve episodes with jokes about his listlessness, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, and hope that it will do well, because as dry as some moments were in the first episode, I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Another silly anime opposite to Sakamoto .

Very muted comedy but its got my attention all throughout the episode cracked up when Tanaka lost his grip on the raquet becuase that has happen to me but I sure would love to have friend like Ohta

Kensho Ono and Hosoya is a nice pair but Hosoya is very softspoken here too , not like in Kuroko no Basket

Oh man, I was dying during the piano scene, and then it was punctuated by:

Tanaka's quite lucky to have such a reliable friend in Ohta.

Tanaka is listless, and so quite frankly is the show. Our CR app paused to buffer about three quarters of the way through the ep (first time that's happened in like forever), and we took that as A Sign and hammered the drop button.

Just finished the first episode and liked it. Not one of my favorites but I'll keep going with it, I like the artwork and music plus its a relaxing show to watch. Couple good funny moments like when he changed a note in the piano song and it got all dark and depressing.

Gonna keep watching just hope it doesn't get overly repetitive.

Episode 1: Tanaka-kun and Ohta-kun

I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It felt really dry and the jokes did get kind of old pretty quickly. I think this probably would have fared better as a short but it's only the first episode so this can still surprise me.

Only focusing mostly on two characters this time with Ohta and Tanaka, and their relationship with each other. Ohta is such a true bro. Taking responsibility for him when he doesn't have to.

Next episode looks like it will have more energy with that girl being introduced. Maybe she can coerce Tanaka into doing something. Maybe. On to the next one

So Tanaka is the opposite of Sakamoto. Really enjoyed this show. Tanaka is the master of being lazy. He's very lucky to have such a nice friend as Ohta. Loved when he decided he wants to be a background character and his face disappears. He completely changes to tone of the song while playing the piano. Looks like next episode we'll see a new character. Does she have a crush on Tanaka maybe?

This reminds me of myself in Grade 12 English class.

There's a Tanaka in each of us, my friends! :D

I enjoyed Episode1, and I think Ono Kensho was the perfect choice to voice Tanaka. It's like, Kuroko 2.0 lol.

Not a bad start. I like how a lot of the background characters felt as though they had some significance even if they didn't do anything; kinda like they are going to be formally introduced later on and were getting cameos now. Looking forward to seeing the cast get fleshed out.
