I wonder if "I Want to be a Cat" is a real book. No luck on google, but with Japan anything is possible...

Might be a reference to "I am a cat" (吾輩は猫である) by Natsume Soseki, which seems to be a classic modern Japanese novel.

I found the twist on Miyano's character towards the end of episode 2 to be really funny lol.

And I'd love to study in that school. Looks really beautiful! *_*

Episode 3

Here comes Echizen to challenge Tanaka, and he falls asleep instead. She happens to be Ohta's neighbor and childhood friend. So Tanaka challenges Echizen in a game of Go and loses badly. Echizen does have a soft spot for cute things and knows about Miyano. And Miyano has declared her love for Echizenas they are getting along quite well. Seeing that she won't eat cute things that Miyaho has made something totally manly so she would eat it. Well, that was pretty weird seeing everything that went down.

Episode 3

I have to admit, that confession was pretty awesome. Like seriously awesome in Miyano style.

Echizen is a funny character imo. I find her hotblooded personality so contrasting compared to Tanaka, who doesn't seem to care at all about their "competition".

Ep 3. That was a lot of fun. After episode 1, I was afraid all that listlessness might make the show one-joke boring, but so far each episode has found a way to present a new aspect of listlessness (in this episode, Tanaka's eating habits, and how he plays games) in a wonderful mix of freshness and the comfort of the listlessness schtick.

Add to that yet another character with a vibrant personality, stir it with the best hyperbolic love confession ever and, and yes, this show has now been moved from the "holding pen" part of my queue, and has joined my regular watching for the season.

So far, I absolutely adore this series... There's something so special and genuine about it to me. It's got that unique peaceful vibe like Barakamon, Hidamari Sketch, Natsume Yuujinchou, even Acchi Kocchi, etc. in which time just stops as you watch it, and their slice-of-life momentarily becomes your own. The art style and character designs, even of those who have yet to be introduced, seem really fitting of a tranquil and light-hearted series of this nature. I also really like the characters and the dynamics between each character and how they interact with one another thus far, and I look forward to seeing how said dynamics evolve throughout the series. I didn't really expect it, but this is definitely one of my favorite series this season.

I agree, a quick glance at this series may lead some to believe that this show would be unvarying in the manner in which it presents itself, but by episode 3 I've yet to get bored of it / am still whole-heartedly enjoying it.

I was also wondering how they'd pull this off. A full episode about a lazy person? Maybe for a short. But this is turning into a really funny show. I think my favorite part was that quick frost/defrost sequence...

I'm also getting somewhat of a Popura (from Working/Wagnaria) vibe from Miyano. She's tiny and energetic.

In episode two, the music that starts the episode immediately reminded me of Animal Crossing New Leaf, 9am https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRAt72y7Dl0

I wonder what this show will do when it finally has such a full cast it can't just add another character each week and have them react to Tanaka?

I'm enjoying this show but I feel there is definitely a limit to how far you can go with this.

The opening bit about Tanaka being so listless he didn't even want to eat was SO listless that I turned it off but luckily for me a friend encouraged me to watch the rest. I'm glad I did as I was laughing out loud at several points. The skirt swap was hilarious.

Most lazy cosplay ever and I think people will even get it! LOL

I love this show so much! I love how peaceful it is, even when some characters are manic. I love how it finds humor in little everyday things. I love how it's all character - driven and feels fresh. This one reminds me of Nozaki -kun; maybe it's because he was such a laid back character surrounded by hyper people with hilarious personalities also.

It's weird but all the anime that was being raved about that I was certain I'd like is boring (except the Flying Witch), and shows I was uncertain about like this one and Shounen Maid, I'm loving.
