I'm finding the disconnect between the intensity of the plot and the moe-ness of the overall style to be really jarring. In a quality sense the show is probably better than it looks, and I'm interested enough to give it another episode or two, but I don't know if I can handle it all season if it stays quite like this.

I also wonder if the "mutiny" will be a long-term thing or if it will segue into something bigger soon; if it's the former it will get old pretty quickly. To be honest it's already kind of grating on me.

As an actual observation, it seems obvious that Munetani's mother from the flashback is the principal in the present day; do the two of them not know each other's whereabouts? It almost seems normal for anime, but like usual I would find it a bit ridiculous.

It's quite right. I'd maybe use the tall girl once, then trash her, and I would reuse and recycle that reduced height girl. Help save the environment, use a loli!

Started thinking of this show as 'Hai, Yuri'. Just not enough ship to ship action.

Episode 3

The Harekaze is in big trouble as it's in dire need of repairs, while it's crewmates have been declared fugitives. They end up in contact with subs from an all-boys school that night, but they are also hostile. The girls were able to avoid four torpedoes and then used a cable to force the sub to surface as the ship makes their getaway thanks to the help of Wilhelmina, who they rescued. As it turns out, this was supposed to be a training exercise, but when her ship had problems, everybody mutinied and stopped following orders, and the girls are finally returning to port. So the Harekaze now can port, but they have to do it in secret. Wilhelmina sure did come through in a big way and she makes a great addition to the team.

Looks like the return to the school begins, but i'm sure there will be complications along the way.

Episode 3

Wow this episode was awesome. We got action at night with naval warfare. I love how they are also adding in submarines as part of the show with torpedo action.

I feel like some of the fleet girls are not confident about their current position though. Although based on their roles this episode, I think their captain is on the right track. Intense episode, loved it.

Episode 3: In a Pinch in Pajamas!

Great episode but I wish they added more variety to the pajamas although the Shark pillow was a nice touch. It's okay Shiro embrace the cute side that's within you.

Nice naval combat with a submarine, for a couple of rookies they ain't too bad and surprisingly are holding their own. Love how all the talk sounds authentic. It pulls me in every time.

I like German lady whose name is too long to pronounce/write so we will call her Mi-chan cause that's what Captain Misaki said. I like her already she's cute and commanding I like it.

Excited for the next one, wonder what happened to the Musashi though just hope these girls can get back safely. Buuut I feel like they are going to have to battle against land as well

I'm liking this show a lot, but I wonder if this whole scenario wouldn't work better if they had gone full post apocalypse. Like, the world was devastated by flooding how ever many decades ago and while civilization and governments still exist, technological progress and the construction of new ships have slowed significantly due to scarce resources and so old ships need to be kept in service indefinitely. I thought that's where they were going at first, but they clearly do have highly advanced technology like smart phones and stealth Littoral Combat Ships. So why such ancient ships? In GuP it made some sense since Senshado was a sport, but that's not the case here. It's not that big a deal I guess, but it is something that bugs me and the only part of this show I have a problem with so far.

Maybe I should take the MST3K crew's suggestion and just relax

I like this episode too, with nice maritime combat action

but man I cant stop thinking what is really going on , as if someone planned to destroy the school and kill the girls, rather the witnesses as if there its some vengeance or a major cover up

well they are definitely building up that scheme of mutiny of cute high school girls

in a destroyer

, ridiculously unbelievable but oh well

You know , I am not into this genre but this one seem to be entertaining and the characters are not annoying at all

This show is just so much HHNNNNNNGGG!

Cute girls, actual combat, comedy, action, great music. 3 episodes in and I am hooked.

I am honestly surprised by how they were able to hold their own with a submarine. I wish they would have shown the boys in the sub and how they were reacting. I find it a little bit offputting that people are attacking them, but without any backstory as to why or without any sort of real communications.

Oh well still loving this show and most of the cast so far.

I am also loving this show, the cute girls, actual combat... you can tell the same script writer as Girls Und Panzer is at the helm here.

And I love Hanayo... ahem, Rin at the helm still played by Shikaco.

I like the fog of war aspect. While it would be interesting to see the sweaty, smelly boys in their submarine, I think the fog of war about the whole thing adds to the mystery. Wilhelmina adds to the mystery, not solving much of it which I thought was a neat way to handle it.

One of the best of the season for sure.

I can't help but feel the creation of this series involved two bottles of sake, a bet and a Tom Clancy novel.

And she won the bet.

"Yvan eht nioj", as they say.

Anyway, it looks like a fun show and I'm certainly going to take a look. I'm not sure I get the need to have some disaster altering Japan's coastline to drive up the importance of its navy considering the nation is a freaking archipelago, but that's not too big a deal.

The writing's not up to Clancy's level, sadly. Maybe Dan Brown's. As it's naval, wouldn't it be rum, grog, or medicinal whiskey?
