In highschool we watched FOX news for comedy like Tom Green on MTV. In college I went to quite a few student protests and demonstrations. And what all of that taught me was just how biased the news channels are. Often there are thousands of peaceful protesters with very reasonable point of view, but the newsmen are only ever interested in finding the most extreme and most violent person they can find and interviewing that guy. More annoyingly the news likes to present "both sides of the story" on climate change, on teaching creationism in science class, and even on whether or not weapons of mass destruction was found in Iraq. This got us so angry at one point we went to London and protested the BBC.

So unsurprisingly, I went from getting news from TV/radio/newspapers to getting news from the internet then to not caring and not getting any news at all. Last year I heard that my home town high school (not a private school) now teaches creationism alongside evolution and has weekly prayer assemblies. Back in college I would have called everybody I knew and organized protests, phone campaigns, letter campaigns, online petitions, etc, etc. But I didn't do any of that, because really I just don't care that much any more.

I assume most people on this site are a generation younger than me, so I wonder where do you guys and girls get your news from? And how much do you trust what you see on the news?

Sometimes from the tv but I mostly get all my news from online internet news articles.

For the tv it's a bit boring so really don't watch it.

Internet articles I usually read a bunch and put two to two together and decide for my if what article says is true. If each aticle shows the same exact thing then yep it's got to be true if not then well more then likely false.

If I do get news it's from random internet sources but for the most part I don't keep a look out for it.

Moved this to the Polls forum.

I don't watch news, and I don't read a newspaper.

I get news from public radio, and podcasts.

I get trashy news, sometimes old news, from reading CR's General Discussion forum.

I read news on the internet about subjects that interest me such as anime and IT. I avoid news on tv/radio/newspaper as much as possible because I find it too depressing.

I have cut back on any source of news. It has become too depressing, they never seem focus on any of the good that is happening. I will follow online sources if something of importance is happening, but due to our kids we rarely ever turn it on at home. My son has the tendency to get stuck on things he might hear and worry worse than most adults

I get my news from the internet.
Sometimes news come out faster on the internet than the newspaper.

I get my news from a few sources. Generally it's from the app I use called NPR (National Public Radio) News. They cover a variety of topics. After that, I use the internet as a source...and finally television. TV is usually a last resort as I rarely watch anything on it.

I read/watch/listen to my news on multiple sources, most of them on my smartphones. I not only listen, read, and watch from CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, USA Today, NPR, AP. I also listen, read, and watch from other sources like BBC, Reuters, NHK World, KBS World, Yonhap News, Arirang TV. So I get a better global perspective.

Selected "Yes and No. I get news from a mix of regular and irregular sources". Newspaper, internet, and Television. Television can be local news but also international news like China Central Television (CCTV). I've found that most US national news is limited and bias. CCTV tends to cover international news that the US national news ignores.
