I signed up for a free trial and I thought it meant I would get premium membership so I would be able to watch some anime shows. However when I logged in it wouldn't allow me to watch them and it was offering me a free trial, so I thought maybe it hadn't worked. But when I then tried to sign up for a free trial again it said 'Sorry, you can have only one free trial per payment method.' I'm worried I'm being billed when I asked for a free trial and can't actually access the trial.

With very good reason. Check http://www.crunchyroll.com/acct, and if you think there's any possibility you created another account by mistake (i.e. if the system said there was an error, then you had to use a different email to finish creating an account), go to https://www.crunchyroll.com/resetpw and enter any emails you have that you may have used (just to make sure).

Also keep in mind that the system frequently jumps the gun and decides a charge is "Pending" then refuses to let you cancel*, so be sure to cancel a couple of days early if you decide not to continue. Take screen shots of any confirmations you get, and save them for a month or two just in case**.

* - Despite their advertising otherwise, your only relatively-safe bets are days 3-12 of the trial. If you immediately decide you don't want to continue, you're not allowed to cancel because they want to verify your billing information (which makes no sense if they're not supposed to bill you). And if you wait until the last day, it's likely to be "Pending".

** - The system also frequently appears to let you cancel, but doesn't save it that way. Then when you get charged, customer support is likely to tell you (especially if it's in private correspondence rather than in public) that you didn't cancel, and since you can't prove it with a copy of the email or PM that the system didn't send you, they won't refund it.
