If I saw everyone as my equal I'd only see trash and why would I love people who would/could never love me?

Equality in all aspects of life is impossible. And I don't believe people are equal.

It is easiest if the law treats everyone as equal for the sake of fairness and simplicity in interpreting law, but that does not mean people are actually equal. A person is worth as much as he/she has or is able to contribute to the group without unduly burdening his fellow citizens.

Children are not equal to their parents. The parents have more value because they're able to immediately contribute and they have the chance to raise their children to be upstanding citizens who will also contribute. Children ought to obey their parents until they have enough experience and a foundation on which they can stand on their own, especially if the parents are providing for them.

You should not need to love someone to respect them as fellow citizens. In fact, most people are incapable of doing so.

Let me guess you voted for Ron Paul.

No.

But what does that have to do with my views on equality?

Tribalism is stronger in politics than race--there was actually a recent study about that.

I am not surprised. But I'm far more racist than I am zealous about politics.

It was a dig at the way Ron Paul fans act and how your views were similar. It was a joke.

To me equality means equality of opportunity. It means you are not denied an opportunity because of race, creed, gender, color, or age unless such conflicts with a bona fide requirement of the job (not sure Chippendale's is very interested in female or geriatric strippers, for example).

It does not mean a company must hire, or a school must enroll, x, y, and z numbers of white, brown, and yellow people and x amount of men and y amount of women.

Nor does it mean that opportunity is handed to you, or that you are entitled to anything. Want the HTC 10? Obtain, and shell out the $700 to buy it. Want the job? Convince the interviewer(s) you can do it.
