I am unsure which commercial it is thats a problem. But whenever I get to an ad section, randomly it will crash my player and I cannot get past that part because it tries to play that ad no matter what. It goes away if I leave for a long time and/or watch a different anime for a bit but it is frustrating as hell. I have tried updating browser, playing on other browsers, updating the plugins, nothing works. If I am logged in, I hit that ad and it goes down hard. You guys should probably look into it and get it fixed as I cannot be the only one with this problem.

Chrome's now unsupported Adobe Flash pluging crashes frequently on this site.

I can't believe Chrome discontinued support for Flash & Java. Every single day I encounter a site that needs one or the other to run properly.

It's crashing for me over & over & over after the commercials end.

I'm curious where you are getting the idea that Flash is "now unsupported" in Chrome.

Don't know about Java, but the latest consumer build of the Chrome browser, 49.0.2xxx, fully supports Flash and is running the latest update:

Test your version here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ . I'm running Chrome and I have no problems on this site or any site with Flash content. If Chrome is crashing for you on this site, then it's most likely a conflict with another plug-in or Add-on, or you need to manually update Chrome.

Do you have any other plug-ins installed in your browser? I've only run into this problem when I've had my Ad-Blocker turned on or I've mucked with 3rd party cookie settings while trying to watch streams here.

This was the first thing that I tried. I do have ABP but the first thing I did was turn it off and try it again. It would go through the first ad then when it jumped to where I was and began to play the next one it would crash immediately.

Did you disable the app completely, or just turn it off for crunchyroll.com?

Choice is yours but try if switching from ABP to uBlock Origin helps. In terms of blocking there shouldn't be any practical difference(they're using the same lists/subscriptions anyway), but I would say I had less issues viewing sites after the switch.

To test, tried viewing episode one of Twinstar Exorcists logged out on a firefox profile where I had flash, ublock(active) and noscript(partially allowed) set. No annoyances/errors as far I could detect.
(flash is disabled on my usual browser with no easy way to turn it back, so I use special profiles for cases like these. And I'm usually logged in from Chrome when I need to write posts like these, like now...)

I disabled it for crunchyroll but I also tried it in other browsers that didn't have ABP on it. Which is why I brought this up to begin with.

Chrome still gets the latest updates but phones not anymore "Flash is not supported on Chrome for Android devices, iPhones, iPads, and other mobile devices."source > https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/6258784?hl=en Also on another article I read "Google Chrome, unlike other browsers, has its own version of Adobe Flash Player built in. When you update Chrome, it also updates the version of Flash."

Now I remember one of the reasons Chrome automatically disables it because of the Angler toolkit which "exploits outdated plugins like Java, Flash Player or Silverlight to install files on computers", So browsers now have been disabling them

I read it here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3160644/Google-Mozilla-pull-plug-Adobe-Flash-Tech-giants-disable-program-browsers-following-critical-security-flaw.html
& here: http://www.informationweek.com/software/enterprise-applications/google-chrome-support-for-flash-ads-ends-sept-1/a/d-id/1321984
& here: http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2423816/google-will-freeze-flash-in-chrome-browser-from-1-september
& here: http://www.wired.com/2015/08/google-flash-ads/

Java is necessary for websites like Ping Test, Speed Test, & automatically detecting GPU drivers.

Chrome & Firefox STILL keep crashing on me when I pause the video, & sometimes it just crashes when I select a new video & hit play. It doesn't even have to be near a commercial anymore.

I wonder if Crunchyroll has any plans to convert to an HTML5 player.

Those headlines are highly misleading, which should be obvious when reading the article. The announcements were only stating that Flash would be disabled by default, or limited to click-to-play under certain circumstances, i.e. out-of-date versions or when the content is identified as advertisements.

Java isn't required to run http://speedof.me/.

Two of those actually have "Flash ads" in the URL, so even without clicking through to the article, it should be obvious they don't have to do with "no longer supporting Flash", only ads using Flash.

The Daily Mail article article is about a point in time where the browser disabled specific versions of Flash due to a critical security flaw.

From the V3 article:

Users will still have the option to play Flash content, but the Chrome browser will now have "non-essential" Flash advertisements switched off by default.

So despite the clickbait "Google stops supporting Flash in Chrome browser", the article itself reveals the truth.

Java is necessary for websites like Ping Test, Speed Test, & automatically detecting GPU drivers.

I'm not certain why your reply to me covered this, as I didn't mention Java in the message you responded to.

There are a number of speed test websites that don't require Java. I don't have Java installed on my machine and have no problem with either speedtest.net or speedof.me. I haven't used ping test, so I don't know off hand of any alternatives. As to automatically detecting GPU drivers, I'm not certain what tool you are using, but I normally check that manually. If you mean automatically detecting what driver your system needs, I have done that with both Intel (which used a downloaded executable) and NVIDIA, and as previously noted, I don't have Java on my system.

Probably not any time soon. Although it will soon be 2 years ago, in a Reddit AMA the CEO of CR indicating there were no plans to try an move CR to an HTML5 player.

That said, CR does have a beta test HTML5 viewer for manga that is available to Premium+ members that was introduced earlier this year. I expect whenever they decide to move to an HTML5 video player, we'll see similar testing for it well before deployment.

Keep in mind CR isn't alone. The second biggest subscription streaming service in the US (Hulu), still uses Flash, and at last report, still has no plans to move to HTML5. That "last report" was a while ago, however, and I expect even they see now that the writing is on the wall. As such, I would be surprised if they weren't at least looking into some HTML5 player implementation.
