They say it's to improve service and customer experience so why not. If it's something like a shopping center that women mostly goes to, why not give preference to women. It could help businesses a bit, which over time could add up to a lot of $$ for those businesses (and happier customers?).

I'd say it's quite the slippery slope from there my friend. Wouldn't it make sense to have male priority parking at a sports stadium since the majority of clients are male? I guess that's not a fully comparable example but whatever, positive discrimination is still discrimination, in my opinion.

Yea, you're definitely right. Just thought it'd be interesting thinking about it on the business side because many businesses already use positive discrimination, though they usually do it in a matter that's not so obvious to the public as priority parking.

But now that you've mentioned it, it does make me realize that if such rules/policies are allowed, businesses might abuse their newfound powers and enact even more rules/policies. This could prove to be troublesome.

P.S. I really need to think more before I reply to threads...
