You propose to the father to confuse him.

I'm a dude and I thought it through. In many places of the world, a man is signed into a trap if he marries. I won't have that. I don't give a shit what anyone says.

Say that you both have been talking about it but haven't really been set on a date or anything.

Yeahahaha! That's a good one!

No, is what I'd want my response to be. But if I was in that exact situation, I am honestly not sure if I would crack under peer pressure and agree. Later I would discuss with him that that wasn't okay with me, and be so suspicious of any other red flags.

No is no. Manipulation like that tends to end relationships...I would not be putting up with shit like that.

Ugh, doing that in public is unneeded pressure if you ask me. You need to get the vibe for the other person that they really want it first. Otherwise yea (it's been said ^), manipulation = bad.

^This. If the person had listened to you then this would never happen. This meant not only did s/he not listen they're using family pressure to manipulate a yes response. That person is not trustworthy and being with them means the relationship is not going to be healthy.

I would say no and tell him or her that I'm straight up not ready for this yet and we should wait.. If he or she is understanding of that then lovely if not.. then I'm grabbing my bag and walking away.

I would say yes and make her the happiest woman alive. This is just because i'm hallow inside and cannot feel happyness I would just hope that maybe her love and jubilee might bring me some joy. Honestly the happyness of others may very well be the closest I ever get to that feeling. I'm broken and my life is a lie but the museings and ruminations of other people give me a glint of intrigue driving me on to live cold and analytical I may be but i'm not completely devoid of compassion............yet.

If I'm not ready, I'm not ready. If she were going to force me and pressure me into a quick marriage, it's a sign of bad things to come and it's probably time to end the relationship if she doesn't understand.
