I've watched Magi: The Labyrinth and Kingdom of magic. Haven't seen Sinbad yet. I think I read somewhere that it was going to go on Netflix and I was going to wait until then. Im gonna see it someday...

I just got through the first episode, and I'll just do my thoughts for this episode, and then one at the end of the series.

Episode 1

So much for being a hero as Badr turned into a traitor when he unknowingly helped out a Reim spy. Darius sure is devious there, but in the end he's all about protecting his family. He was already a dead man walking having gotten really messed up by war there. In the end, he died protecting Sinbad. War is a bad thing, but it does happen and somebody needs to fight it. So far, it's off to a great start and I'll be watching more of this later on Netflix.

Apparently Kuromukuro wasn't an exception, as Sinbad is also subtitled only.

I just finished watching this show on Netflix. This show does a nice job in bringing up Sinbad's character here, and seeing that only four of the eight generals have been recruited that there is the possibility of a second season. So far, Sinbad has recruited Jafar, Hinahoho, Mystras (and Spartos would later end up being the one representing Sasan in his place), and Pisti. While Drakon has appeared, he's in human form and hasn't come across Sinbad since the dungeon. Then there's Yamraiha, Masrur, and Sharkkan who Sinbad has yet to meet, and then there's Judar who Sinbad would often cross paths with who only showed up there at the end. It ends with Sinbad able to convince the country of women to join the alliance, and it wasn't easy as Sinbad had to survive naked in the valley of snakes, while taking his Djinn Equip to the next level.

Final Thoughts

This show has been pretty enjoyable and it does an excellent job in portraying and developing Sinbad's character. The dungeon capturing adventures are nicely done setting the foundation for Sinbad's character to evolve. What I particularly like is the way Sinbad establishes partnerships with other countries is changed up to keep things fresh and up to date with Sinbad rise to power. The biggest problem with this show is that there's plenty of comedy in odd places, and there are many instances where it fails. In any case, it was nice to watch, and I hope that a second season of this is coming seeing that the story doesn't end until Sinbad's kingdom is fully established.

Grade: A- (9/10)

What a great season. This was a side story that needed an anime, Sinbad is such an interesting character and his adventures are a huge part of Magi's history. He is so strong, courageous, and charismatic, I love Sinbad. His gang is very cool too and I like seeing how his business started and how that eventually leads to him making a country. Visiting all the different parts of the world is fascinating indeed. And seeing Drakon before he goes full dragon is very cool and I never would have imagined that him and Sinbad had a rough history like that (speaking of Drakon, it looks like he ran off with the pink haired girl, good for him!)

And lol Hinahoho got reserved raped it seemed like, but god damn, what a luckily bastard! He was the underrated chick magnetic across the board this season. And little Pisti was adorable! She has a huge family as well, I liked the queen.

I have to say I was very impressed by Lay-duce, they had great animation and I loved the character designs. I also love the thick edges the characters have on them. Ir was fluid and the fight scenes were so well done, even surpassing the original at times.

One thing I missed from the old series was the music and the sound effects, especially for the ruhk since it's so memorizing and soothing in the original series. I miss the Arabian nights-esque soundtrack, it really fit the series well, but this show had some good tunes just not nearly as good as the original. Also I thought the chibis in the original series was better, but Lay-duce was pretty close lol.

It was so good to watch Magi again, I love this series. Overall I'd give it a 8/10.

A different studio animated this? I was wondering why the character outlines looked so different. Not that it was a bad thing or anything. They actually did a great job like you said. This needs another season, but I don't know how far the manga is. Hopefully we get to see more after Magi season 3 (if it ever happens).

Haha yep! They made it look pretty similar to the original with obviously some different aspects like the dark edges. Lay-duce has barely made anything, but Classroom Crisis was very well animated (and was good overall imo) and Sinbad was as well. They have potential as a studio for sure.

From what I've heard from manga readers it has enough material for another cour and the main series has plenty of material for a season 3. I'd at this point, Lay-duce would probably do both since A-1 seems to have moved on and it seems like Netflix has a handle on Magi now, so I'd bet they'd throw some dollars to get it made and to get it exclusive. I'd say it's a good bet that we'll see both get another season in the not so distant future.

They can do another cour for this indeed although likely 1 cour.
