Just curious what you guys find as your favorite and least favorite. Of all the key related anime released I finally have watched them all after putting off little busters for more then a year. Im truly surprised that little busters isn't that popular as some of the others, but I guess it comes down to personal taste. Season one was good but not incredible similar to how clannad season one isn't where the series truly shines

It all comes down to personal opinion but I gotta say Little busters refrain literally had me in tears non stop 2 episodes straight. For me it ties with clannad afterstory on the scale of sadness and overall tears shed. As someone who has never read a visual novel I really enjoyed all of them. For some reason angel beats I got watery eyes at the end of I believe episode 10 but didnt at the very end unlike most people. Charlotte although not a VN but was created by one of the key founders would be my least favorite.

Looking forward to rewrite anime adaption although I know close to nothing about it.

Same boat here: Little Busters! is far and away my favorite. Having played the VN first, the anime adapted things quite adeptly, though it seemed like it was being a little more obvious about some of the twists (though that might have just been hindsight bias on my part.) Regardless, Little Busters! is easily my favorite of any of Key's works, and quite possibly my favorite anime in general.

I also had the same reaction as you to Angel Beats. Episode 10 really got to me, but the ending was just okay. I feel like the pacing near the end and the fact that many of the minor characters got left in the lurch by the narration cheapened the emotional impact that they were going for in the finale.

I'm hoping for good things from Rewrite. While it's not as strong as most of their other works in terms of generating "feels", it's got a very well-constructed plot and an imaginative setting. The adapters will have their hands full trying to present everything without dropping any balls, but if they get it right, we're in for a treat.

I finished refrain 2 nights ago and EX last night and it is definitely my favorite out of all of the key adaptions. I'm glad that you share the same feelings as after posting this thread I wanted to read previous discussions of the series and it seemed as though a lot of people didn't think the anime adaption was good and I got the impression it isn't to popular which completely surprised me. Regarding the twists during season one I knew something supernatural was happening but wasn't sure what. Once the big reveal came in refrain I was half right on what the secret of the world was. As an anime only watcher with no previous info it was very surprising and emotional finding out and then putting all the pieces together. This series is definitely in my top 5 favorites, what made it even more effective was just how likeable the characters were, to me at least. Not one character I disliked out of the mains and supporting.

Regarding Angel beats the last episode during their "graduation" I wanted to feel sad but I actually was like that's it...? Especially with Yuri it's like that's all? Huh? Lol. Also Yuris sudden personality change and same with Kanade as I remember there was a very short scene she got scared (forget why but it was something silly) and hid behind Yuri like how out of character is that??I was surprised with her secret but the final moments just didn't feel like they played out right. Although the ending song with the all the characters disappearing one by one was pretty depressing. I liked the comedy, art, music, and the story but overall felt disappointed as I kept hearing how sad it was.

Yeah defintely Little Busters. All of the characters had good depth and development. There were also a couple of characters I hated at first (Kengo, Sasami, Futaki, etc.) But this show made me do a 180 for all of them sooner or later. It had good comedy that made the sad scenes work. The first season does its job in making sure that you're attached to all of the characters so that Refrain is that much more impactful. Also I was pretty suprised to see a show like this have bro characters who are actually bros. Not only that but I really loved how Riki helped the guys with their problems just as he did with the girls. Also Riki is without a doubt my favorite of his type of character (i.e. the Nice Guy). He wants to help people but he's too weak and relies on Kyousuke as a result or just ends up running away. I really liked how the show developed him into someone who is strong enough to do that, considering that most other characters who do the "helping girls with their problems" thing usually are able to do it right away.

The music was great as well, especially Song For Friends and Haruka Kanata. Add to the fact, it has some of the most emotional moments in anime history (Episodes 6-11 of Refrain). Tears were literally streaming down my face when you know who turned around and started crying. And the plot twist about the secret of the world was foreshadowed really well. The ending is also the only one of Key's works that isn't confusing. I am huge fan of Key and like all of their stuff but none of the others even come close to touching Little Busters, not even Clannad. I also thought the anime did better than the VN considering that they made Kuragaya's route make sense and ordered the routes in a way where the twist became less obvious, as well as having a overall greater emotional impact.

My least favorite is Chatlotte. But I still liked it.

Also I have to agree about Angel Beats. I still loved it, but I only cried in episode 10. And I also thought it was the weakest of Key's works before Chatlotte came out since Little Busters did everything it did better.

Clannad > Little Busters > Angel Beats > Charlotte > Air

Still have to watch Kanon some time, but Clannad is pretty special to me. Something I originally picked up on a whim at an anime convention and the first Key title I watched.

Little Busters I enjoyed pretty thoroughly all the way through with a plot that really comes together in the second half like Clannad

The other three sort of sit in that middle to meh territory for me with Angel Beats having the most memorable moments of them. A lot of their issues probably could have been fixed had they been given some extra time instead of just one cour

Charlotte had a couple parts I enjoyed, but really squandered all of its potential

I enjoyed Air's OP and characters at times, but generally found it boring and hard to follow

Your words are false. Only people who know what the red truth is can use it properly.

Charlotte is the weakest one. And again Little Busters did everything Angel Beats did way better.

For me it's Clannad > Kanon > Angel Beats > Little Busters > Charlotte, and I haven't seen Air.

Clannad and Kanon are two of my top 10 favorite anime ever; Angel Beats and Little Busters are both great but a step down; I liked Charlotte, but it was definitely the worst of the bunch. (Reason why Charlotte is at the bottom: the switch from comedy to drama was too abrupt, the romance wrapped up way too fast--a problem Angel Beats also had--and that last episode should have been half a season just by itself.)

I agree with every single thing you said. With angel beats I went into the anime expecting to cry at the very end as thats what I always hear from people. Episode 10 got me teared up, but the last episode just happened to fast with the goodbyes and the part with kanade was cool finding out that one piece of information but other then that the scene didnt hit me as hard as I was hoping for and expecting. I might of gotten a bit teary eyed when they showed the credits with the whole group disappearing one by one.

Clannad afterstory is pretty much a given that you would most likely cry and be very moved but in the last episode of clannad and little busters clannads final gave me mixed feelings while in little busters I just had a big sense of relief. Sometimes in anime the whole "power of friendship" can be somewhat corny or just seem silly, little busters did the friendship thing perfectly.

Kanon was my first key anime and also within my first 20 or so anime ever seen, so this one got me good when I watched it. I love the opening for this show. Actually pretty much all of the key anime have incredible music, Clannad, little busters, and angel beats really stick out to me regarding soundtracks. I absolutely love kanon, air and charlottes opening songs but other then that the rest of the soundtrack didnt stand out to me like the others

I would probably go Clannad > > > Kanon > Little Busters! > Angel Beats! > > > Air

I won't include Charlotte since even though it's a Jun Maeda work, it isn't technically a key VN adaptation. If I did include it in my lineup I would probably like it a little bit more than Little Busters.

Only bothered with Clannad and Angel Beats so far and out of those I prefer the latter. Might watch Little Busters at some point soon.
