I've only ever been to one convention, an anime one at that. Planning on going to more coming up. My suggestions would be defiantly plan ahead so you've got that covered. You can probably find some page for the event, whether it be on facebook, or the event website and find a group to go with or do stuff with. But no matter what happens you'll have fun and be surrounded by people with the same interests as you.

Definitely bring more money than you think you'll need! Dealer's rooms are expensive, but so is food & drink around there. If you're going local, stock up on snacks and food to bring with you instead, that'll help cut costs.. okay, honestly, allow you to get more toys and anime.

If you go to any of the big events, like the masquerade, you'll be in line for hours. Be sure to bring a portable game, book, or something like that with you, and a make buddies with others in line so you can trade off for bathroom and drink breaks.

Be sure to hydrate! Being in costume, going to the dances, even just walking the con floor you can easily get dehydrated, especially if you're looking for a cheap drink stand, so be careful.

Look at the con guide you get with your badge, see if there are any panels or events you want to go to. Planning those ahead of time (and remembering that the popular ones will require you to be in line hours ahead of time) can really help you figure out what you can get to, and what just has to fall off to the wayside..

And have fun! Never forget that most important aspect.

I am really excited about it, I've never been around a large group of people who share the same interests as I do. I plan on making as many buddies as I can!

Be on time to the panels and autograph sessions because you'll regret not being one of the many fans to meet someone of interest. I almost missed my opportunity to meet J. Michael Tatum during Sakura-con 2016.

There was so much going on @ Sakura-con that I had trouble remembering the schedule for J Michael Tatum is panel and autograph sessions. Luckily! On the last day of Sakura-con I got to meet him during his autograph session. He was one English Dub cast members for the new series Blood Blockade Battlefront. I almost cried when I got to meet him.

I don't know if this is helpful keep in mind of the schedule, so you don't go home empty handed.

Also, I got an extra room with two beds for Anime Expo 2016. So if you're interested let me know so I can add you to the reservation. If you want to bring a friend to split the difference of the room expense. Its only $395 for only two nights, possibly a third night depending on the room is availability.

That is very helpful indeed, thankyou! I really want to be on top of things and make my first one memorable!! So any info is good info :)
Ahh such a good price too! Sadly I won't be able to make any this year, hence why I'm planning so well for next! (well trying to plan well!)
