when did weiss get that red mark on her eye?

It's blood from when she got her scar in the White trailer.

I thought this too, but if you look very closely she already has the scar in the battle scene. Now whether this is down to the animators intentionally having that done for ease of textures, or if she got it somewhere else is a different question.

The scar actually appears and disappears a few times during the fight. The general consensus is that it was just an animation error that they either didn't catch, or didn't bother to fix and hoped nobody would notice. It's gone for most of the fight up until she gets hit, and the clearer shots of her face definitely have it missing, with it mostly just being visible a handful of times at harder-to-notice angles, as though they were trying to hide it. The fact that she gets hit right there, and had blood dripping over that spot is too big of a coincidence to overlook.

Depending on how much stock you want to put into it, the manga version makes it explicitly clear that it was the knight that gave her the scar and RT has said that new details from the manga can be considered canon until otherwise stated.

But regardless of whether you acknowledge the manga version or not, I think it's pretty clear that this was the intention even if the animation was a bit inconsistent.

I'm not by any means saying you're wrong, but personally I don't think it's more the scar disappearing than carefully considered camera angles that hide the scar all together- sadly enough I am a character animation student and one of our "jobs" is to carefully study a scene to watch how it's being animated. I've studied that scene a lot more than I care to admit.... Anyway, it's why I am so up-in-the-air about what it actually means. The scene itself can be translated several ways. Your own + manga theory, camera angles (whether or not they were specifically chosen to hide the scar and that's why it only appears a handful of time before she actually gets the injury), or she just already has it. One thing that has never made much sense to me is the blood pattern- why is the blood on her forehead when the scar specifically goes across her eye? I'd really love clarification from RT, but I doubt we'd get it considering it seems to be a plot twist in itself.
