Hello all, first I would like to say..im not a typical anime watcher. I only watch anime's that bring nostalgia to the good old days..aka those shounens back in the day. JoJo..man where has this been and why has it taken me this long to find it

Here is the feeling...to those who are 21+: That time you found DBZ on toonami on cartoon network and discovered there was a japanese version and a whole new world (that would be anime). Seriously this has everything, retro style of animation, old school romance, the good ol' shounen I gotta power up feel!

Glad to hear you love JoJo. It's a fantastic series and the manga has been running nearly 30 years now so there's lots of material to explore.

That was the same feel I got when I first watched it. Blew me away and I was glued. I am now in part 5 in the manga. It never loses its touch.

That's actually a great way to put it. I had that same feeling when I found it. The same feeling when I found Dragon Ball and Pokemon as a child, and Naruto and One Piece as a teen. It's like the grown-up version of that "geek-out, binge watch and read the whole thing, remember pointless trivia, recommend it to everybody, reference it in your username, buy a shirt so everyone knows you love it" kind of feeling.

And it's awesome.

When or if you're done Part 3, move on to the manga. It's my favourite manga series for sure.

Do you not like the Part IV anime so far? I think they've nailed it.

This makes me want to watch it even less than I already do though...

Yeah, it's great so far. The only bad thing about it is you have to wait every week.
I just recommended the OP switch to the manga after Part 3 because it's a good way to end the anime.
It'll probably be a year before Part 4 nears its end, but you can enjoy it right now if you don't wanna wait.

Oh well yeah there is that problem. And for the record, I definitely recommend the manga. I guess now's as good a time to start as any.

But it's nothing like those shows... I think he was trying to say that it felt nostalgic watching it.

Yes
I just meant that childlike feeling of being super excited about something, and really getting into it.
You can use any series you really liked when you were younger as an example or comparison.

D: it is light on cute girls, but big on fun

I can understand people being put off by certain things, but I've been in love with the series since I first saw it

Helps that I'm a really big Persona fan, and Jojo is pretty obviously what inspired that

To those on the fence, if you are a true shounen fan then just watch it. I am the same way, I only watch shows that I think are worth my time. A good way to judge is to compare to other shounens. I can safely say Jojo has qualities of every great shounen icon character..unwavering spirit, unlocked potential in dangerous situations, improving themselves to be better and perfect respect for others. You will enjoy some qualities instantly and others may come later. I will say it is quite fast paced but that's only because there is no BS..it will take around 4 episodes for you to get use to the storyline and understand what's going on but after that it's an awesome shounen that you will easily connect with.
