Well, I started watching Speed Racer, Astroboy, Gigantor, Tobor the 8th Man, Prince Planet and Kimba the White Lion with my Dad as a child (Speed Racer was his favorite "cartoon"). From there it was Star Blazers, Battle of the Planets, Force Five, and Robotech on US TV eventually graduating to subtitled and Japanese language titles on Laserdisc.

That was our generation, when it was ALL about Urusei Yatsura.

Actually, UY was my second, as it was also about the Dirty Pair.

Since I was born. Mom and step-dad were always into it.

My mom used to sing me the Ranma 1/2 opening when I was a baby.

Anime has always kinda been a thing for me. So much shit, but the gems make it worth. More into vidya honestly.

Many years ago I was at my cousin's house and saw him watching Rurouni Kenshin and specifically I saw the opening and thought that was cool and so I came into the world of anime.

When I was around 10 I got introduced to Naruto on Toonami. I loved that show so much that I'd tune in every (I think) Thursday at 9pm. Toonami introduced me to a lot of anime, like Inuyasha, Ghost in the Shell, BoBoBoBo..

Summer of 1983, visiting relatives in California, I remember watching episodes of Robotech on TV. I was young and didn't know it was anime, in fact I'd not even heard that term before. I was just looking for cartoons to watch.

First I'd learned of the term anime was in the early 90's. I was in the military and a buddy had some VHS movies in his locker. They had names like Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, and Venus Wars. He'd bring one out every 3-4 months to view.

Finally in the early 00's, I went into a Best Buy store and found the DVD singles of Robotech. I bought all 14 of them over several weeks.
If we all recall, ADV had 6 previews on every disc they put out. My anime life branched out from there.
