I normally prefer hybrid classes that are capable of high dps. I favor dps/healer combos.

I have the same name in every MMO.
My role is healer, if not, anything unique does the job.

Also i take the games seriously, and in "seriously" i mean put myself into the world, kind of like what you do, i guess. When i see people named "PeePee TheGiant" or something i think it's funny. So long story short it's about personal preference, after all, it is games we are talking about.

Btw; those friends of yours have good humour!

I normally play female character but sometimes the equip better on males so then I choose male.
I also notice male characters in games have choice of better armor? I am not going into battle wearing skirt and heels come on.
Ever played FairyTail game the females are running around in bras and some have black panties so not cool I want some real armor for my battles! I guess the game designers favor men figures.

I play male characters so as not to be mistaken for a girl, and choose my class based on which one I can come up with the most innovative or interesting build for. I gravitate towards a control role if I can: I like playing mages that can impede enemies and toss buffs around, or tanks barring that. I'm not the type that likes to stack up big numbers unless I can do it in a fun way (mechanically speaking); the subtle approach is more my cup of tea. I try to make my character lore-appropriate, and have some interest in RP servers, though only if they tolerate OOC build discussion, since that's what I play MMOs for in the first place.

Highly evasive glass cannon.

I prefer to play support types that attack enemies instead of heal/buff allies.
So I like to use moves that debuff, hold, sleep, slow, etc.

If that sort of class isn't available, I'll go Tank.
Like 80% of people online are DPS, especially younger players who aren't very good, so I like to lead teams and make sure everyone has an easier, more fun time. If I do my job right, the 14-year-old without any real strategy who's just using whatever attacks aren't on cooldown will eventually kill whatever enemies I'm controlling/tanking, and we can all get through the mission.

I don't like sitting on the outside fearing someone else will pull too many enemies or whatever and get everybody killed. I like to have some control over the battlefield, with some ability to bail out/rescue people if they mess up or need help (even if it's a simple taunt to draw an enemy away from someone with low HP).

I use healers sometimes, but only if I don't want to tank, and there's no other type of support class (like in The Old Rupublic). And I never make ranged DPS. I feel like I have to rely on others too much to keep agro off me, whereas even if I'm a squishy control type, I can lay down an emergency sleep or something and reposition myself.

I play as an "idealized" self-insert, I guess you could say. The style is always going to be me in terms of character design and equipment, but there might be a few things slightly different from my actual self - like hair for example. I'd probably have something that I'd like to have IRL, but is going to be hard for me to achieve with my hair type (thick, somewhat unruly).

I mean, I think MMOs are all about fantasy and having a parallel world. I'm aware it's quite common for guys to play as girls (including "ideal women"), but the only types I don't really like are the complete troll players who are just there to screw with others and not actually enjoy the game.

Out of curiosity, what MMOrpgs does everybody here like to play? I've honestly been looking to get back into one for various reasons, but the last one I played was Maplestory, which got money whored by Nexon. I'd like something similar in terms of the fantasy aspect, but still has an extensive online social system and well developed classes and all that.

Most of the MMOs I play or have played in the past are very casual, and I have the most fun just making my characters look a certain way and constructing a theme for them. I'm the type to have as many characters as the game will allow, and am extremely obsessive about naming them. The name has to be one word, no numbers, capital letter in the front.

When I create a character, I don't really see it as myself, more just like "Here's who I feel like playing as, today." I'm a girl and I like sometimes playing guy characters too, guilty of trying to make them attractive/cute in some way. I don't intentionally trick anyone though, I'm very private in games and don't talk much about myself offline. If it comes up, it comes up, but I'd rather stay behind the wall of my character and I usually just let people know that.

Class and playstyle-wise, I love survivability so tanky types are always appealing. Healers are also fun.
I also really enjoy playing gimmicky and underplayed classes, or classes that are supposed to be bad, and trying my best to solo on them anyway. I'm stubborn.

I still play and enjoy MapleStory, don't hurt me...

I'm always a Warlock for its demons or someone that wields the light like a Paladin (PUT YOUR FAITH IN THE LIGHT) on WoW or the Jedi Consular/Sage on SWTOR

Most of the times i play a assasin because i dislike picking easy classes. But if there are no assasin classes then i will pick a range class like a mage or a archer.

I like magic classes, not for the dps but because it's simply more fun than swinging a sword.

if I choose sword or melee classes I find them too easy and boring.
