Oooh well then I'm sorry to hear about your loss of enthusiasm </3 I wouldn't give up on your passion if I were you. It may be hard to engage yourself again but if you keep trying you're sure to find a book that sparks your interest again! It may take time and you could end up going through several books (even if you don't finish them) that fail to appeal to you but if you really want to find your niche then persevere. In the flip side it could be time you moved on to something new, maybe this development is just how you are growing as a person. Thats up to you in the end. Whatever you do, be happy doing it ^^

I have friends who don't like to read simply because they don't enjoy doing it. It's honestly as good a reason as any. All on your list make sense to anyone who doesn't want to read but for those who truly enjoy it they'll overcome and find an alternative way of doing it. Myself, I fall somewhere in between 4 and 6 (due to stroke-realted memory/visualization issues) but I still read and write frequently by using voice to text and text to voice programs. That's just me because I enjoy reading, if others don't all good for them too.

I'll put down a vote for time/busyness being a factor. I love reading, used to read all the time, usually going through a couple books a week. Now I've had three books a coworker let me borrow sitting on my dresser since around October. I come home and I just don't feel like concentrating on a book.

If you don't read books then what a sorry bag of meat bones you are...However, I do recommend everyone to read what they like. There's worlds of difference between what you want to read and what you have to read.

It might sound mean but I think some people like being ignorant.
They don't want to challenge themselves and stimulate thier minds.

I don't think that is the case though.

I stopped reading because I'd often only opt to do it at night before I went to bed, and when I'd resume a book the next night I'd have completely forgotten what had happened before.

I honestly cant understand why anyone would read when there are so many video games and tv series and movies and animes out there?
I like to read at forums and i like to read as far as doing research and learning things. But that's about it.
But we all are different. I love music also, i watch sport, i like to do things like go out and play pool or go out and eat meanls or etc.
There are only so many hours in a day. Iam sure alot of you that read must not play video games and socialize and watch sport and etc (just examples that you can only have so many hobbies with a restricted amount of hours in a day).

I am a productive member of society, I watch stuff (not sports though, that is way too boring), play plenty of video games, and get out and enjoy the good weather when it is an option and still find plenty of time at night to read. I'm not overly social, but I have a great group of friends. It's just that I find reading relaxing and a good way to prepare for bed instead of stimulating my mind by watching TV.

Yeah fair enough. I just think that i have too many hobbies to read. Time wise. Plus during the week i have nanna naps and on weekends is when i try n socialize or do stuff around the house or garden(more time consumption).
I love sport.
I dont even have a missus or kids yet i still find i dont have time for all my hobbies.
Admittedly though, the amount oif time i spend on facebook and forums and random googling or you tube or simply in indecision trying to decide whether to game or watch stuff and then what to play or what to watch, i probably could read lol..
I used to play alot of RPG's where you'd have to read alot of text, i used to read alot of magazines, i occasionally play visual novels but yeah thats it.
Barely ever read a book in my life (since childhood i mean). But as i said before, i am too easily distracted and as i saw another person mention, being forced to read books that you didn't want to or like in highschool didn't help make me want to read.
I used to love writing storys and lyrics but just never got into reading.

It might help if you start with shorter novels or novellas. Ender's Game is a great book that is both engaging and a quick read.
