After reading all of Air Gear, I've pretty much found it to be one of my favorite manga.
What do you guys like about Air Gear, if you've read it?

haven't finished the manga yet but saw all of the anime and loved it! Wish they made more episodes!!!!! But I know that the manga tells the full story.

What I loved besides everything lol is that being a roller bladder / action sports type person all the parts about loving speed, being in the air, scared to try a new tricks or the part where Ringo is in the car and start's telling everyone why she loves AT's. It all just hit home for me and i was relating so much to! Great show and manga i'm excited to read it all!!

I know this is childish, but I dropped it because Ikki chose Ringo over Kururu. God I loved Kururu, she was so awesome.

Ringo always felt to me like part-needless drama part-needless mentor.

Kururu on the other hand grew along side Ikki and rather than help him win directly, she helped him grow stronger and always made sacrifices that opened a new path for Ikki. Their relationship was so well done, she was the best support he could wish for, but at the same time she herself grew a lot as a character while supporting him.

So when Ikki chose Ringo, I was like, fuck this, I am done, I dont at all care how this ends anymore.

Amazing early on and a very well established and interesting world with lovable character. I think the character were the strongest part of the series and the ART my GAWD it was amazing. Then....the writing sort of got weird and sloppy toward the end, it was never top notch level writing but it just got sorta bad. To balance it though, he step up his art toward the end at least

Your reading a action manga for romance? and get mad when you pair does not get shipped....

It was pretty heavy on romance. Not just Ikki x whoever, but the other characters too. There were a handful of relationships ongoing.

And in the end there are only 2 pairs -_-

Also if you read it seems like he NEVER really liked Kururu.

Edit: Kazu vs Nike was the best fight in the manga anyways so you really did not miss to much.

My favorite part of the series though was after Ikki's fallout with Ringo and when he left the house. He grew so much as a character, his team grew stronger and more tightly knit. Kururu was a huge part of that too, always working toward helping Ikki and the crows get stronger. I just loved it. After that, I just didn't care at all about the story.

Another one of my favorite mangas to which I pretend the ending doesn't exist is Mahou Sensei Negima. The magic world arc was so strong, and I really wanted him to pick a girl, any girl really, that's how well each of them were developed. Yet the ending just went ambiguous. Then I had hope for UQ Holder, but that proved to be extremely generic shonen, in the beginning at least, so I dropped it.

I liked it but the story just kept adding more and more dimensions to the point where, with my sporadic reading, I couldn't keep up and never finished it. I think I got to the part where they were in a giant tower? How much more did I have left?

Pretty much how I felt about it, even after being a fairly avid reader at first. It's the same problem Tenjho Tenge (from the same author) had- it just turned into a load of convoluted bullshiz.
And yeah, fuck Ringo. Why choose her over Kururu?

I was reading them at the same time and with not so great translations TT was difficult enough to keep up with, though I at least finished that.

I feel the same way about Air Gear as I do about his other manga Tenjo Tenge! The first half is this great story focused around some neat concepts and then right around the half way mark there is a sharp right turn to crazy town. Tenjo Tenge went from martial arts manga with some spiritual powers to full on time travel and demons and Air Gear went from cool motorized skate counter culture gang battles to robot people, literally flying and a threat to the entire world in the form of a roller blade.

If Oh Great! would just stay on track I would probably rank him among my favorite authors. As it stands, he's someone I'm afraid to read the next work of because I'm scared I'll like it and then it will suddenly get batshit insane.

I think this was the first manga I read. Loved it. Although I can't remember much other than the actual air gears stuff. I may need to read it again
