Is homicide wrong?

Killing is wrong in many ways. In Christianity, it is believed that only God gives life, so only God may take life. This would see homicide (and suicide, surprisingly) as a sin. In Buddhism, the 1st Moral Precept (found under Right Action of the Noble Eightfold Path) states "I must abstain from taking life" which is pretty self-explanatory. Both religions are completely against it, and have grave consequences for those who take life. In Christianity, those who commit a sin, such as killing, are not allowed into heaven (I would assume that this only counts for killing humans), whereas in Buddhism, it not only gains a HUGE amount of bad karma, it also means that you cannot reach enlightenment in that lifetime (or in any other lifetimes until you've 'worked off' the bad karma)
Abortion is one of these examples where you cannot justify it. If you're not ready for a child, use protection or don't have sex. If the worst comes to the worst, and you still end up pregnant (it can happen), have the child, see how you feel, and if you don't want it, put it up for adoption. It is still a better alternative to killing an innocent life.
However, there are a few circumstances where killing might be seen as verging on acceptable. Euthanasia, for example, could be seen as morally right. You are helping someone escape the pain of a terminal illness (e.g. Motor Neurone disease) and you are helping the relatives avoid the emotional pain and anguish of watching this person die a slow and agonising death.
Killing to survive is also seen as morally right, although there are always some who don't agree.

Whoa.....long comment

Do you usually see tigers , lions , elephants , cows or whatever you want, killing there own species ? I don't think so..

they dont kill there own species unless for a reason and some exceptions who usually kill there own species XD and feed on there children or whatever lol

but they do attack weaker species to survive...

we are the same.

we prey on the weak to survive.. thats how life goes

i agree with that... but... dont u think we SHOULD indeed kill some of us?.... i mean... theres too many of us in this world, there wont b enough food... and the animals r dyin out because of us... also we r pollutin the earth....

OK, let's kill some people... How about you first?
Who has the power to decide who should be killed and who shouldn't? Without laws what makes us different from animals? I do not believe in randomly killing animals for fun, but I believe in eating them. Unless you're eating it, don't kill it.
Humans also don't kill others for no reason, it's just that the reason for each person is different and may be considered trivial by others. That results from humans "intelligence," which allows humans to act beyond instincts and develop more individualized personality than most animals do. With greater diversity comes greater conflict of ideals and ideas and that sometimes results in anger and loss of rationality, which may result in the homicide.

The ONLY people who kill other people for no reason are the mentally insane

I can imagine killing for your own live's sake, but after that I don't believe killing is the best way to solve a problem.

Famous quote, don't remember by who though, so pwned =P

Anyway, the world is horribly overpopulated anyhow, so I'm pro killing. Plus, people would be better because those born with superior abilities would weed out the unworthy, thus Darwinism takes over =P

we humans are complicated so i wont get too deep into this discussion, but i will say that killing is mainly based on your own moral values, like death penalty, or if you really really hate someone ... >.>

if you see it in a religious point of view and in most people's point of view, yes it is wrong and even through you know its wrong you still do it
but people kill everyday and people kill to survive, protect others and themselves, we kill animals to eat them to survive and we also kill plants to survive. Humans kill other humans for revenge but like krnsoldierofGod said it is never justified and I agree with him
