Although the term homicide is sometimes used synonymously with murder, homicide is broader in scope than murder. Murder is a form of criminal homicide; other forms of homicide might not constitute criminal acts. These homicides are regarded as justified or excusable. For example, individuals may, in a necessary act of Self-Defense, kill a person who threatens them with death or serious injury, or they may be commanded or authorized by law to kill a person who is a member of an enemy force or who has committed a serious crime. Typically, the circumstances surrounding a killing determine whether it is criminal. The intent of the killer usually determines whether a criminal homicide is classified as murder or Manslaughter and at what degree.(this is the legal definition)
Yes Criminal homicide is a sin.
As for killing animals/plants if it is being used properly then no it is not a sin. If your killing animal/plants without using them to clothe, feed, or provide other life necessities then yes I consider that a sin.

Sin is a term used mainly in a religious context to describe an act that violates a moral rule, or the state of having committed such a violation. (wikipedia)

Thus, homicide is a sin.

this is a detailed explanation. thumbs up!!

here's my added opinion

homicide is used widely in media because of its generic nature.

there is also culpable homicide not amounting to murder or manslaughter

this is what the law deals with the killing of man: homicide, manslaughter

law govern us in the killing of human beings to decide if it is a crime

on whether is it a sin? that would be a moral question. after all, human is on top of the food chain.

animals kill to eat or survive while human can kill for pleasure or no reason at all.

Is that a sin? you decide!

ummm lets see ..... of course killing people is wrong animals get killed to eat i think its wrong when they get killed for no reason but humans it never right to kill a human they have lives there not just running on instinct like animals when you kill them your not only distroying a life your distroying many peoples lives... god doesnt say thou shall not kill animals... his obviously talking about humans

anyway the only time i think its okay is if a killer is after you and your children ect... and you have to kill him first that way its self defense and perfectly exceptable

why would you compare ourselves to the animals? its wrong to kill a human..lol... we are of a superior being... we should stop going to the "animal level" we know how to live....

we have no reason to kill our own kind....we can find other means for the basic needs of humans...

thats why its wrong to kill... how would you feel if you weee the one killed because of the reason that is so superficial?

a humans life is precious.... killing humans for reasons like... we are overpopulated is kinda superficial...

dont take others blame for something that EVERYBODY is doing

Homicide is very wrong. Duh. I love how people justify killing other people by saying how overpopulated the world is. Maybe we should kill them off....see how they like it.

Yeah it is. Because your heart goes" Ohh I can never save that person's live again, and his/her family will be sad...=.=" If you don't, then to you, the person that you had just kill, his life only worth uselessly much to you.... which no one would object to this way of thinking too~ ^^

Humanity has abused the whole "kill to survive" aspect

That passed long ago. These days we kill for fashion, sport, bigger houses, bigger cars, more traveling, anger, etc

and sometimes we don't need a reason
It's kind of disgusting
