10. Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail): Because he's hands down the best of his kind. Doesn't preach to his enemies, he just gets enraged at them and kicks their butts. He isn't completely pure-hearted like other similar characters (The Big 3 guys, Goku, Gon, etc.) He does selfish things and gives in to his anger sometimes. He has by far the most reason to treasure his friends as much as he does as well, since he lost the only family he had at an early age and was completely alone after that until he joined Fairy Tail. Also realizes that the heroic sacrifice thing is stupid giving him the most depth out of any battle shounen hero.

9. Riki Naoe (Little Busters): A nice guy who wants to be able to help people but can't because of his own weakness and insecurites. And he ends up relying on his friend as a result or just ends up running away because he doesn't know what to do. It makes the typical perfect nice guy MC not perfect.

8. Kudryavka (Kud) Noumi (Little Busters): I just think she's really adorable. Plus her "Wafuu! is just amazing. I also really liked her backstory and character development.

7. Makoto Sawatari (Kanon) Pretty much the same as Kud. Adorable and an amazing verbal tic, Auu in this case. And she had a really great backstory and development as well.

6. Yuuji Kazami: (The Fruit of Grisaia) Greatest harem MC there is. He's still a nice guy and he still helps girls with their problems and all that. But he's also hillarious and witty along with being a complete beast. His past is one of the most tragic things I've seen and it molded him into the person he is now. He has a great amount of depth and development. He derserves his harem.

5. Hazuki (Moon Phase): An adorable loli who can take down villains all by herself. She has great development and is the best tsundere ever. Plus Nekomimi.

4. Hanyuu (Higurashi): Another adorable loli with a verbal tic, Auu again. I can't really say much without spoiling Higurashi but if you have watched it, then just know that what she was doing throughout the whole show is a major contributor to why she is one of my favorites as well as one of the three greatest lolis of all time.

3. Wendy Marvell (Fairy Tail): The best character in Fairy Tail no questions asked, as well as the second greatest loli ever. Super cute and a complete beast. She's a healing girl who isn't pointless at all and actually does things. She has a great amount of development starting from someone who is kind, shy, and polite and would prefer to avoid fighting at all costs to a complete beast who's able to solo enemies, and is still completely adorable.

2. Kyousuke Natsume (Little Busters): The definition of a true bro. He deeply cares for all of his friends and would do anything to save them. He has a whole slew of relatable lines and meaningful quotes. But the main reason why he is my second favorite character ever are tied into the events of the second season of Little Busters. And like Higurashi I can't say much regarding this but just know that the sense of depth and development that was put into his character is absolutely marvelous. I liked him at first, then completely despised him and now I couldn't possibly love him more. It's rare to have a bro character that actually matters and even more rare to have one as great as Kyousuke.

1. Illyasviel (Illya) von Einzbern (Fate Series): And last but most certainly not least is the number one best loli ever. Best Fate character in general as well, Saber, Rin, Sakura and the rest have absolutely nothing on her. She is incredibly cute and that amazing and adorable voice of hers only further empathizes that fact. Illya has a combination of both her mother and her father's characteristics. From her mother's side she has a kind and childish personally that just makes you want to go aww. And then you have the other side of her which carries her father's personality where she can be harsh and callous when she wants or needs to be. As stated in Fate/side material she is, "The girl who possessed both innocence and brutality." And, "It was truly fortunate to behold someone who was simultaneously an angel and a demon." And fortunate it is indeed. After all how many times have you seen a character who is good and evil at the same time. This poor girl had to grow up in isolation for years. Raised by a 'family' of douchebags who were willing to throw her into the wilderness all alone just for the sake of winning the Grail Wars. Yet she was still a strong enough magus to be able to survive and summon Beserker very early. And in Fate/Kaelid Liner you get to see how she would've been if she didn't have to be affected by two Grail Wars. And it is very safe to say she is just as awesome. This version of her has more of her kind, cheerful and optimistic qualities. She cares about her family and friends and is very determined to do whatever it takes to help them. She also is very imaginative as shown in the episode where she learns how to fly. She also started caring about Kuro enough to try her best to be a good sister after she realized Kuro just wanted to live a normal life (like she wanted). And she always tries her best in every fight she has and can be very tactical when she needs to be (and this is a ten year old girl we're talking about here). One fight she had in particular she was so epic that people who initially brushed off her series as a Card Captor Sakura ripoff or just a lame spinoff started following it because it left them so darn awe-struck. Plus she has a maid fetish.
Add to the list that her reactions whenever anyone tries to get close to Shirou, her reactions are priceless. And she likes the snow and hates the cold just like me. And how can you not love a girl with a name like Illyasviel?

Spoilers from all routes of FSN:

Plus BESERCAR. She's also my waifu so yeah. It is for all of these reasons that she is too. No one can ever beat her.

Personally, my favorite characters would have to be Lawrence and Holo (Horo) from Spice and Wolf. Though they aren't my favorite as individuals, if that makes any sense? When they are together they end up being an amazing source of entertainment and amazing dialogue, and as cheesy as it is they complete each other. Their relationship isn't full of every cliche imaginable, and is for the most part, a lot more mature than most other anime duos. Not saying its the only one in existence, nor is it perfect...it just seems like the most "Human" and complex, compared to most others.

Kiroumaru in "From the New World" (Shin Sekai Yori) would be my favorite stand alone character.

Shana from Shakugan No Shana for all of the entertainment and for introducing me to the world of Tsunderes.
She also re-introduced me to anime. "Urusai urusai urusai!"

Shinya Banba from Akuma No Riddle. This show is far from perfect and we don't get near enough time with Banba but for some reason she's become on of my favorite characters of all time. I have a bit of a thing for crazy girls. I like her split personalities of day and night....plus she's pretty adorable, scar and all. Her sledgehammer is just a bonus.

Itaru Hashida from Stein's Gate. He stole nearly every scene he was in. Haxor extraordinaire and a pervert with a heart of gold. And to be fair 3d girls are awesome. I love his voice in the show and the person who did his voice acting is amazing. It's one of the MAIN reasons I cannot watch the English dubbed version.

Faris from Steins Gate is also pretty high on my list. She's cute, funny and awesome at the Rai-Net Access Battler game. She plays along with Rintarou and even adds to his fantasies and mad delusions. Plus she introduced moe culture to Akihabara. What's not to love. And as an added bonus she adds "Nya" to her speech to boost her Moeness. Playful and childish yet also highly intelligent and perceptive. A perfect supporting character.

Anna from K. All hail to the Queen. I can't put my finger on why I like her character so much. I think part of it is because of her relationship with Mikoto and how much she loves "the red."

Yuno Gasai from The Future Diaries. Another crazy one. Some find her actions concerning love and stalking creepy but I think it's romantic. Okay, it's creepy but still, she's adorable when she's worried about Yuki when she isn't trying to kill him or his friends that is. Still if nothing else her love is true.

There's so many more. If I can think of them I'll add to this later but honestly I'd probably be here all day if I mentioned all the characters that I really like.

My top three, which have remained unchanged for quite some time now.

1. Baccano's Elmer Albatross. "As far as I can tell, there's no real meaning to life, so wouldn't it be better if everyone just smiled?" This guy's brand of nihilistic optimism strikes a chord with me. Nothing matters in the end, so do what you can to make yourself happy, and when things are looking down, well, be happy anyway. You don't need a reason to make the world a little brighter.

2. Little Busters!'s Kengo Miyazawa. Friendship-tsundere at its finest. Kengo acts like he's above it all, but at his heart, he's childish and sentimental. His pride won't allow him to say it, but all he wants in the end is to have fun with his friends, and his single-minded devotion to that cause, while certainly immature, is moving to see in action.

3. Humanity Has Declined's nameless protagonist. She's a lazy, self-serving little shit, and turns out to be a genuinely good person not in spite of that, but because of it. Probably the most relatable protagonist I've encountered in any medium. She's sharp, but doesn't use her intelligence as an excuse to condescend to people (anymore), preferring to just tread the path of least resistance and give it a nudge when necessary.

Well, since it's tough to pick one, I'll list a few:

1. Hiei Jaganshi, Yu Yu Hakusho

For years and years my favorite character, and if you put a gun to my head and told me to pick who it is now, I'd still probably pick him. Just an all-around badass who has time for exactly nobody's bullshit and can kill you before you even know he's moved. 12-year old me thought he was the coolest motherfucker ever, and age hasn't changed that position. Adding to that, his curt, antisocial attitude actually has a worthwhile explanation from his past, and the character development he undergoes sees him actually become a valued teammate and something approaching a friend to his allies, but not at the cost of his fire-and-ice (quite literally!) personality.

2. Lordgenome, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

The mothafuckin' Spiral King. Hands down my favorite character in TTGL and my favorite villain in anime, and maybe any medium for that medium. Not just because he's an immense badass who fights a giant robot with his bare fucking hands, but because of how deep of a character he is.

3. Noriaki Kakyoin, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Out of all of JoJo's wacky and over-the-top characters, it's actually one of the more reigned in who I like the most. Kakyoin's childhood was one where he felt alone and isolated because he couldn't connect with anyone due to his Stand powers giving him a different perspective on the world. As someone with Asperger's, I can definitely relate to not being able to connect with people socially and feeling a lone because of it. I identify with Kakyoin a lot because of this, and his cool-headed, deceptively witty personality makes him instantly likable. Plus, Hierophant Green has some kickass powers, and happens to be my favorite color
