I'm planning to pick this up soon, but I know there are several versions out there, so which one is the one to get? What are my options in dub or sub? Can anyone provide me with a link for the best price.

Oh and is the akira cd any good?

Thanks.

Hey hey, if you have the money you should support the anime.

eStarland is probably more reliable which is why i posted it. I don't know all that much about the different versions offhand.

by akira cd i assume you mean ost, and its rather meh imo.

as far as i know there are two versions of the DVD out there, the stripped down version and the special edition. i don't know if the special edition is still available in the metal case (thats what i picked up when it cam out a few years ago). i don't recall there being anything to out of the ordinary on the special edition to reall warrant getting it unless your a sucker for special editions like me. big thing i was getting the dvd for was the remastering and being able to hear the original japanese language track.

likewise - support the anime industry unlike all these freeloaders here if you can!!!

the akira stipped down dvd is pretty cheap now anyways, and i consider it a staple of any anime collection (for historical value if nothing else).

they have cheapo version for around $14 now and the special edition for around $30, go with the special if you got the money cause it has tons of xtras. I my self bought the cheapo version.

well i mean the best thing to do is use this site just to find anime you like. Then go out and buy the box set or eposides you like. Thats what most the oldest users on here do because as good as watching stuff on your computer is. It is always better in dvd quailty on the tv.

I think everyone is confused about the question. There are 2 versions of the dub and you can find sub on both. The two versions are the streamline dub and the animaze dub. I went with the animaze dub although I'm more familiar with Geneon. Also, the voice actors in the animaze dub get more work. If you don't like Johnny Yong Bosch, try to find the streamline version. However, the Animaze dub is easier to find.

Akira is a movie you definately have to buy.

I have an old VHS double box set collectors edition passed down from my brother, with an hour or so of interviews. Pretty great.

Also got the DVD for actual watching however

If you're from England, I'm guessing you got the streamline dub?

You do realize that you were the one that said buy the "episodes" you like. I know damn well that animes can be movies. I just thought that you were a noob that didn't even know Akira was a movie.
