你们好!

I've been living in the far North-West of China (Xinjiang Province, 新疆) and pop onto Crunchyroll now and then to see what is happening.

It'd be cool to talk to people about it, whether you also live in the middle kingdom or if you don't, I'm super happy to answer questions as well!

I work as an English Teacher in a county-level city called Fukang, about 60km from Urumqi. Quite different from the stereotypical view of China up here, let me tell you!

Anyhoo, be interesting to talk if anyone is interested.

I'm also learning (ish) Chinese so practice in that would be sweet too if there's anyone here who speaks it 哈哈!

I'm also a yingyu laoshi in Hebei province 2 hours south of Beijing. I have been teaching middle school student for over a year now. Chinese (Mandarin) is a bit difficult to learn, I study every day. I am quite proficient at reading the characters.

One thing I love about living in China is the opportunity to travel around Asia. South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong are almost like just an arms reach away. It's so fun.

If anyone is good at translating Chinese into English, there is a good part-time job that Qidian is offering.

$40 to translate a chapter into English. (about 2000 English words). So if it takes 2 hours to translate a chapter, that's $20 per hour.

A translator wrote about his experience here:

https://forum.webnovel.com/d/519-i-m-perfect-luck

Hello, I’m imperfectluck, the translator for NEET Receives a Dating Sim System! Approximately two months ago, I began translating part-time for Qidian International while simultaneously holding a full-time job as an English teacher in China. During the first month, I completed 34 chapters, a pace of roughly one chapter per day. This process took roughly one hour of my time per day.

At first, I viewed this job as something to be done part-time as an aside to my full-time teaching job, but I quickly learned the convenience of translating novels – an enjoyable an experience for the translator as it is for the reader. I could set my own hours and pace, as long as I met a quota of 5 chapters per week, anything was fine. I could translate for an entire day if I wanted, or pick one hour a day any time I was free, or even not translate at all for several days in a row in order to kick back and relax. Heck, I could even translate at midnight if I wanted to stay up late (as I often do as a night owl)!

Now that I’m two months into this part-time job, I’ve been able to transform my way of life. Before, I was living paycheck to paycheck supporting my family – I have a wife and daughter, with a second child on the way soon as well! Translating for Qidian has given me more financial freedom than ever before, and my extra income has allowed me to start saving for the first time – and I’ll be needing it soon once my second daughter is born! Being able to save this extra money every month has also allowed us to plan a future trip to Japan for the whole family a few months after our second child is born, a dream that I’m sure plenty of readers wouldn’t mind seeing fulfilled themselves.

After familiarizing myself with working for Qidian, I decided it was time for a change in my career as well. I requested to work part-time as a teacher instead so that I could focus more fully on translating full-time which would allow me to set my own goals and work schedule for myself. Not only that, Qidian’s recent original English novel competition has inspired me to take up a (proverbial) pen and create my own story for the first time as a writer rather than a translator. As a long-time fan of novels of varying genres, I feel like the spark of creativity has been ignited within me as I utilize my experience reading all sorts of interesting novels in order to hopefully bring something new to everyone. I may not necessarily win the novel competition, but I’m sure going to have fun no matter what – it’ll be an unforgettable experience, visualizing my own characters as I write.

Finally, I’d like to thank Qidian for helping me find my passion and giving me the opportunity to work in a field that I vastly enjoy and has unparalleled freedom in choosing your own work topic as well as schedule.

ps. Oh, by the way, I also enjoy tons of Steam games in my free time, mostly RPGs, as well as League of Legends (NA and China server!) I used to be Master rank in LoL, but have fallen so far since then... feel free to add me though, the username is ipl

-------

If you want to translate, please translate this novel....I'm a reader who really want a translator to translate it

I'm Chinese, but I think my Chinese speaking skills aren't even on a conversational level

What's worse is that I usually mix up Hokkien and Mandarin when I do converse with someone.

(Idk what the relevance of my post is with the thread lol I'm bored )
