Politics of this aside; 'sock puppets' are a thing now. Basically either a bot net is created or teams of people control fake or alt accounts in order to pose as regular people on the internet. Companies will use them to defend the 'good name' of their product, political groups will use them to harass or drown out conflicting opinions, hate groups will use them to bully people.

The concept is basically this, say someone posts a youtube video that I didn't like. If I make a bunch of youtube accounts and have each of them leave comments on the video, I can discredit the video. One person saying, 'this sucks', just seems like a single jerk, but if that person can seem like a crowd, or movement, or better yet popular opinion they can sway actual public opinion.

Scary stuff, because it's literally everywhere. Even video game publishers will hire people to make sock puppets to friend people they term 'whales' (people with big wallets or poor spending habits) over Facebook in order to encourage the whales to keep spending and playing.

Filthy noobs. If you want people to buy your games then follow in Lord Gaben's shining example and make everything 50-90% off! People will buy games only to never play them just because they are so cheap!

I just mean, like others in this thread have said...Hillary is dishonest? Yeah. And? Typical of politicians and furthermore, Trump isn't just a liar, he really is a PATHOLOGICAL liar. He lies more than any other person I've seen run for president. He just lies so damn much.

Like someone said, such hypocrisy...Hillary lies and is dishonest? Yeah, and Trump is at least just as bad, if not worse.

If you look only at the surface of this political season, you are failing to notice what's below the surface -anger, disgust, rejection of the status quo-you don't seem to understand that people feel culturally and politically threatened, and Trump is the closest analog to this frustration. That's why they are ignoring his behavior, because he is viewed as one of them. If you don't understand that, then you are missing so much, and will never understand what or how this could be happening.

The left is bored with democracy. Just look at the anti-Trump protests and the college campuses. "The ends justify the means." The choice isn't about Republican or democrat. The choice is between democracy or Hillary.

The psychology we should be exploring is why the media pundits are ignoring the biggest historical event of the year, by far.
That is, for the first time since the founding of our country, a person who is being investigated by the federal government which is run by the the person's own party is running for President of the United States.
For the first time since the founding of our country, a person may be elected President who may also be a felon due to national security violations.

These facts make the Trump candidacy small potatoes by comparison.

What does this say about the current state of American culture?

apparently late shows are basically promoting Hillary in the guise of "comedy"

Donald Trump calls Hillary
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONRQZshyrPI
(notice how Hillary explains through the mock phone call her supposed strong points)

mock debate
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dCClwMqJK8
(notice how they specifically chose a feminist as the one and only one asking questions. at one point, she praises Hillary for being the only woman in the race. They waste no effort in trying to show her good points, and the show ends with Sanders telling the audience to vote for Hillary instead.)

now you'd think that those are just for entertainment purposes and shouldn't affect the elections in a significant way.
in 2006, nbc was accused of being biased in favor of Arnold Schwarzenegger[1]
...you already know the outcome of that election. this is just my guess, but i think the average joe simply doesn't know nor care about the actual candidates and will instead rely on whatever information is fed to them through the late night shows - which in this case, is basically telling them to vote Hillary.

murica is doomed.

You can switch out "Trump" for "Hilary" in this segment and it'd also be correct, near as I can tell. If there is a difference, it'd lay in Hilary escaping judicial persecution... And possibly for having worse skills in lying. Cameras are her enemy.

I broke the quotes earlier.

Worse skills in lying? Yeah, Ok. But Trump is a worse liar. Trump is pretty bad. I remember a segment on the news where Trump was responding to claims that he is prejudiced, and he replied, with absolute confidence "I'm not prejudiced. I'm the least prejudiced person you could ever find". Wat. Yes, politicians lie, but none make a claim like that. But Trump makes lies like that all the time. He never thinks twice about lying, no matter how grand and false his lie will be. He unabashedly and unashamedly lies. Most politicians say whatever it takes to persuade people, and then there is Trump, who just takes it to a whole 'nother level.

His lies are not unlike that of a car salesman or cellphone commercial. Outright in your face lies based on nothing but opinion. Hillary's lies are sneaky in nature. Given her history you'd think she'd try to be on the straight and narrow. Both lies are equally as bad but one seems more obvious and transparent than the other. Still everyone'll be voting for two liars in November.

So I guess it boils down to whether you want to see knife being plunged into your heart while the murderer screams at you. Or would you rather it be slipped between your ribs from behind, collapsing your lung.
