I'm a very lazy individual but I get motivated out of nowhere which allows me to do some work.

Like others have said being lazy is unwilling to do work while unmotivated is simply seeing no purpose in it or even it just being something you dislike. The main difference here is the unmotivated person will still get it done while the lazy person will not.
I would be unmotivated. I've never not gotten my work done but I know I could do better but I see no point in most of the things I have to do.

I'm kinda tired of being lazy so I do stuff..anything that tickles my pickle.....

I believe, being successful requires both motivation and effort...any other combination will cause regrets in life.

I would say they are pretty different. You can be unmotivated and still get a decent amount of work done.

I think they're different. I think laziness has more to do with not being disciplined enough when you should actually get work done. You can still be very motivated, but your current energy levels/state of mind won't let you do anything.

I only think people are lazy if they actually need to do something but don't, though. If you don't need to work or do anything, I wouldn't call it lazy to waste half a day.

I'm unmotivated, not lazy. I get my chores done, take care of shopping and bills, go to work and actually put in hard work (in spite of lazy co-workers who drag the good ones behind). Despite all that, I have next to zero motivation to further myself such as moving up at work, dating, etc.

Interesting thoughts so far.

I too think that they are not the same. I consider myself extremely unmotivated. Of course, I have my own lazy days when I simply don't do anything by choice because I don't want to, but for the most part I have no desire for many things. I do what I do just because.. I have no drive, no passion. I CAN BE passionate about some things, but they are temporary and are nothing more than phases. For the most part, I don't have anything pushing me to work hard or do anything beyond what's necessary for me to survive. My mother always told me I was the brightest and probably most talented out of my siblings. The only problem is that I have no ambition and no drive to actually do my best in anything.

I think there is a difference.
Like me at work for instance. I am currently VERY unmotivated.
Iam working in a place that is going to close soon so the environment is shit, i've been there a long time, iam forced to do a very early shift so iam always tired. I have very little motivation. BUT, i dont consider myself lazy. I try to get my job done and iam not the sort to just leave a job half done and screw over someone else. However, i will no longer put in any extra effort, i dont really care that much, i wont bust my balls and work extra hard, i dont care about impressing anyone of doing more than i have to do or anything like that.
Iam unmotivated and tired, not lazy.

I'm lazy with some of the things I actually like doing, and just unmotivated with other things I consider more or less pointless, or irrelevant to me.

I'm lazy and unmotivated to do anything about my laziness.
