It doesn't have to be a drawing. You can find some random image on the internet and work your magic.

It's not really a novel, but I made a cover for a book I wrote in one of my design classes. It's covered in a brown reptilian looking/feeling paper and has a white silhouette of a dragon flying toward the corner. Sorry I don't have a picture... lol

No, I wish. I do read a lot of books by independent authors though and talk to them a lot so I do have a bit of advice for you. If you ever do publish a book then I HIGHLY recommend that you hire a good, professional artist to do your cover. Unless you are an amazing artist, graphic artist, etc. The first thing a person sees when looking at your book is the cover so it's really important to have a professional cover to catch someone's attention. I've seen a lot of very poor book covers and I can tell you that I always skip over those books. I even saw one where it looked like they drew something in crayon. Then there's the one's where they use really bad graphics, like from a 90's video game or something. I don't mind computer generated images but when they look old, fake, poor, whatever it's just a big turn off.

Having a good cover is just as important as hiring a REAL editor. Not hiring an editor is the quickest way to make people hate your book. I've read books that were so poorly edited that I simply deleted them after a few pages. There's some out there that look like they haven't even been run through a freaking spell checker. Now anyone can call themselves and editor and trust me there's a lot of really poor editors out there. Hire one that has a resume and look at the books they actually edited. Don't just take their word for it. Hire a professional. I know it's hard when you're an independent and don't have a lot of money but your book is your baby so take care of it. It has NO chances without a proper cover and good editing.....and the rest is up to your story, your skill as a storyteller and a bit of luck.

An editor does more than just check for grammar mistakes. They also make sure your story flows properly. They don't even have to like your story to make it the best story it can be. They may have you cut out whole chapters or rearrange them or give you advice on characters, plot, settings, etc. They do a heck of a lot more than check punctuation. Behind every great story is an equally great editor. Stephen King's works would more than likely be a mess without a good editor.

Anyway good luck to you. If you ever do publish a book then send me a pm. I would love to see it and the cover you come up with. If it's good I'll leave a review. I don't review bad books because I don't finish them lol.

I am a big fan of artwork, paintings and want to see an artwork as a cover page of novel. Artworks like Jimi Hendrix art on http://bluediamondgypsy.com/, acrylic artwork etc. Is this possible?

Nope, haven't finished any of the projects I've been working on. I've storyboarded a bit, which looks amusing, but doesn't hit the standard for a professional book cover.

Wooow, those looks amazing! You've done a great job!

Here's the cover for my novel that I released this year. I'm serializing it on wattpad, so you can read it for free. Here's the summary...

In a world ruled by the magical elite... It's hard for a normal guy to get by. Unsavory tactics are needed to keep the belly full. Azark sells phony potions, traveling from village to village. Mallow, his adopted adolescent Moon Giant daughter, keeps dissatisfied customers away while she yearns for a better wardrobe. The Age Day festival of Blythe draws thousands of tourists despite being in honor of a shy, smelly sorcerer. Mallow wants to shop, Azark wants to sell. But in a city as big as Blythe, Azark isn't the only con man, and the ones with their eyes on him want something more precious than gold. Will Azark wise up in time to protect himself and Mallow? Is the unconventional heir a threat or an ally? And most importantly, will Mallow ever get cute shoes? For Fans of: Discworld Series, Galavant TV Series, Dungeons and Dragons, Disney Fairytales, and fun fantasy fiction!
