Florida man shoots himself, doesn't notice until days later. Hahahaha
It took two days for Michael Blevins to notice the bullet holes in his arm.

Only after changing shirts did he see stains from blood seeping through the fabric.

Sheriff’s deputies later determined that Blevins, 37, accidentally shot himself while cleaning a handgun in the living room of his Florida home, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

Blevins stood up while cleaning the .22 caliber pistol before feeling his back “lock up,” according to deputies’ report. Blevins had suffered a back injury before. Still took medicine for it.

The sharp pain caused Blevins' back to give out. He fell face-down into the edge of a glass coffee table, according to the News-Journal.

Then he heard a gunshot.

But where did the bullet go? Besides a cut above his left eyebrow from the coffee table, he felt nothing.

(Blevins later told deputies that his back medicine possibly numbed him from feeling pain from the accident, even pain from a bullet wound, the News-Journal reported.)

For two days, Blevins went about his business as normal.

It was on the third day that Blevins took off his shirt. The shirt was black, a long-sleeved one, the kind that hides blood stains from bullet wounds should one ever shoot one’s self by accident, the newspaper reported.

Then he put on a light brown shirt, noticed his own blood and found the injury: Blevins could see where the bullet entered his left arm and where it exited, according to the News-Journal. It had cauterized, deputies later recounted, and was barely bleeding.

After Blevins was discharged from Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, deputies escorted him home in nearby Deltona.

“An investigation was conducted, and the shooting was deemed accidental,” the report read. “Case is closed.”

Lots of problems here that show this guy needs help. 1. Doesn't notice his arm bleeding after doing daily activities. 2. Doesn't change shirt for three days or shower. <•--- what. Florida again

I'm gonna throw in one more question while we're at it.

Why did he have the gun loaded while cleaning it?

They're called rednecks, that's what they do.

Sigh, do people not check their guns to make sure they're empty before cleaning them? Especially if they leave them loaded which I guess I can actually understand that way if there's ever an emergency they're ready to go. Like most of us I was taught to ALWAYS consider a gun loaded even if you know it is NOT and to NEVER ever point them at anyone even if they're not loaded. They're not toys, they're not props for pictures and they're not there for looks or for scenery. They are deadly weapons used to kill. Either hunting or in defense.

Just be safe with those things everyone. Keep em away from children and check them really good before cleaning them.

I can't believe he didn't notice a hole in his arm. That's pretty hardcore but is also pretty stupid. Dude needs to make sure he doesn't have Leprosy or something if he's not feeling any pain. Pain medicine shouldn't "numb" you like that even if you're abusing them and taking a crap load. It's weird that he never felt anything but freak accidents do happen. Maybe change your shirts more often or something lol.

I have a separated shoulder injury that I still have no idea of when or how it happened. I've also sliced the top portion of my thumb in half vertically before; the cut was clean through the nail and flesh. It was painless... my reaction was along the lines of "huh... that's not good." A month and some butterfly bandages later there was only a scar, healed up nicely.

The body can be weird like that sometimes.

Actually it has nothing to do with being a redneck. In my experience, there's about a tenth of people, rednecks, city-slickers, what-have-you, that just don't have any clue what gun safety involves.

What really bothers me is that it took 3 days to take off his shirt and notice the wound.

=_= I don't even...you don't even notice a slight stinging sensation. Or even the fact you don't notice blood stains before taking off your shirt at least jeezuz. *Insert Drug* is one hell of a drug.

Given the description (he was getting up), I would not be surprised if he had just *finished* cleaning it, replaced the magazine (why anyone would use a .22 for self defense I'm not sure), and intended to replace it to whatever storage space he kept it. It did not discharge because "he was cleaning it", it discharged because he had a medical emergency and fell face-first onto the corner of a table with a gun in hand

You mean they didn't try to pull him into court on charges of attempted manslaughter of himself?

That stuff actually happens in my state and country

My thing is, how in the world did he not smell the blood, even just a little whiff of something like iron, after two days? And if he went out, why did no one say anything?
