Washington Cop Attacks Girl for Riding Bike, Blames Her for Attacking Him
Posted 5/11/16 , edited 5/11/16

A Washington police officer who is responsible for training other officers was caught on video physically abusing a 15-year-old girl, then claiming she had attacked him.

The charges never stuck and now Tacoma police officer Jared Williams is being sued.

Williams was in full uniform and working an off-duty security job at Tacoma Mall when he spotted two teenagers riding their bicycles through the parking lot on May 24, 2015.

Doing his duty to keep the mall safe, he chased the two teens in his patrol car, ordering them to stop. He was joined by a mall security guard who was in another car.

Monique Charlene Tillman, who was 15 years old, asked why she and her brother had been stopped.

Williams said they had been causing a disturbance and were being trespassed from the mall, according to a press release from the Tamaki Law Firm, which is representing Tillman.

Tillman insisted they had done nothing wrong, saying they frequently rode their bikes through the mall on their way home.

She then tried to leave, which angered Williams, according to the lawsuit, which you can read here.

The video shows the cop grabbing her by arm and swinging her off her bicycle, then pressing his hands against her neck as he shoved her against a parked car.

He then swings her around a few more times, then grabs her by her hair and pulls her down on the ground.

And he then pulls out his taser and stuns her for good measure.

“It felt like electricity running through my veins,” she told KOMO News in an article last year.

He then handcuffs her and takes her to jail, charging her with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest, which were both dropped during a trial.

In his report, he claimed Tillman and her brother were cutting off cars with their bicycles and yelling and swearing at drivers.

But unlike Tillman’s attorneys, they were unable to produce video to back up those claims.

Williams graduated from the University of Puget Sound, a music school in Tacoma, which stated the following about him on a webpage about alumni.

There are bad cops and good cops.
We need to make sure our police officers don't have anything to prove.
Quick! Somebody pull up a story of a good police officer doing something good.

On the bright side, they have moved away from sending trained attack dogs into apartments without first verifying the occupants.

That used to be a real problem in DC/Prince Georges.

wow tasing a 115y girl?
and all this over a bike?

Fuck it.
Now someone please do this to the officer you also have to be taller and stronger then him.. justice...

also damn it for COP being way above aggressive over minor things..like if they where doing something really bad as he as a COP did something that is worse then a bike ride, even if it was on the road or in a parking lot.

Tazing isn't fun and not everyone can handle it, should really not be used on young people or very old people.

So...she is black, isn't she? Looks like it from that pic. Go figure this happens to a black 15 year old girl. This kind of shit almost always happens to black citizens...

That is pretty overboard. He should definitely be fired. The girl should not have tried to leave until the issue was cleared up but he was way to violent about it. If he had just grabbed her that probably would have been fine but anything past that is excessive.
Granted, I know quite a few people are gonna claim this proves cops are bad and stuff but just try and remember, the news only posts interesting stories. Who is gonna think a cop doing his job right is interesting? Nobody since its their job to do it right.

If this happened in the UK that officer would be looking for a new job after facing charges of assault.

i'd venture a guess that the same applies to Canada, Germany, France, etc.
in Murica, cops can get away with almost anything, even murder (regardless of whether their life is in danger)
though to be fair, some cops do work ethically and do not make it in headline news.

the cop is being sued actually, far worse as far as the department is concerned.

I seriously hope they sue for millions and get millions. I hope they put such a hole in the wallets of the people that employ that man that he will never be able to find another job.

The worst part of it for me... watching the brother not being able to do anything to help his young, scared sister be beaten and tasered by a prick with a hard-on for "authority". He could have restrained her easily without forcing her to the ground or tasering her, there are literally 15 different moves to restrain someone while standing in an upright position. Not to mention backup was... two minutes away? He literally just had to hold onto her until they arrived.
