Gurren Lagann really hit me pretty damn hard several times throughout, with Kamina and especially Kittan, and then Nia at the end is just the cherry on top of the bittersweet sundae. It could have you feeling so epic and awesome, but it always balanced it out with the loss of some truly amazing characters.

Also, I might be one of the only ones who takes this from it, but the ending of Ninja Scroll really gets to me. Seeing Jubei just walk off into the distance the same way he came into the film, completely empty-handed and alone, always pulls on my heartstrings.

I don't cry, I don't even come close to crying no matter what. HOWEVER, there were some scenes in anime that almost had me crying and nearly ripped my heart and feels out. 1. Maes Hughes death in FMA and FMA Brotherhood. 2. Angel Beats ending. 3. Avdol, Kakyoin, and Iggy from JJBA. 4. Mikoto Suoh's Death in K. 5. Hide's death in the Tokyo Ghoul Root A ending. Literally because of that ending, I can never hear "Let's go home" without almost crying.

Grave of the Fireflies. Here is Roger Ebert's review of Grave of the Fireflies. He said that it moved him to tears

Here is another person's response to it.

If you can't read the text, it says "DEPRESSION, Thanks Studio Ghibli. I think I'll go hang myself now"

What is an anime that tore your soul out?

Rumbling Hearts, Grave of the Fireflies and Fruits Basket all played with my emotions not sure ripping my soul out though is what i would say they did but for me they came close to doing that but they definitely moved me

Can Clannad Afterstory be watched without watching Clannad? Or do you need both in order for it to really sink in?

I saw afterstory first. Clannad is good if you want a more detailed backstory and a bit of feels but afterstory will just murder your heart.

Your lie in April took my heart and crushed it. A step down from that is Nana, it doesn't seem like it would be sad but when you finish season one your emotions will be going all over the place.

End of Evangelion, that was definitely the first. That left an impression.
