Chrno Crusade, Angel Beats, Clannad: After Story, and Your Lie in April all made me have too many feels to contain.

You technically could, but you wouldn't know the backstories to many of the "side characters", most of which were main characters in Clannad. And you wouldn't know the story of how Nagisa and Tomoya got together...ect.

Welcome to the NHK, the way half of the series is so lighthearted and funny and then the other half is just dark. The soundtrack also reflects that with Youkoso! Hitori Bocchi! being one of the most depressing songs I've heard from any piece of media.

I think last episode of Kiznaiver did that.

End of Evangelion, that was definitely the first. That left an impression.

Casshern Sins was depressing from the get go. One thing quickly became clear, "Everyone you see on screen is doomed. Don't bother getting attached, none of them get a happy ending. I hope the writing staff gets professional help, 'cause they've got serious issues. Victory Gundam Tomino level issues."

And yet, it was such a visual feast that I got hooked and let down every damned week.
Had to watch overly happy things for bit to recover.

Most recent would be Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. Even though it had been heavily telegraphed weeks before, the actual event was done in a pretty heart wrenching manner. I felt bad for the other characters, which is something that's pretty rare. Not soul crushing though.

Similar moments in other series - Turn-A Gundam when Diana is looking up at the Cannon Ilfuetto and asking about Will Game,
MSG 0080's final battle
, GiTS: SAC when the Major and Kuze realize who the other is.

Plenty of tear jerking moments, but nothing really soul rending.
Just too many anime that try to pull off a Roy Fokker only to telegraph it too much or make the character too unlikable to really care if they die.

Funny thing is the older I got the more I realized Roy was a complete idiot, and if he'd really loved Claudia he would have gone to the damn infirmary and gotten operated on. Sorry, that still bugs me after all this time.

I loved Eureka Seven, and I didn't want it to end, and I found the ending to be so bittersweet. I know this is an odd choice, because I loved the series so much, and the ending hit like a cannonball.

I definitely agree. My feels ache just from thinking about

When I was watching Angel Beats I thought it was an ok anime but when I got around to episode 10 that killed me..... watching the last 2 episodes after that was hard tbh. I was afraid of the feels.

Ending of HxH, Steins:Gate all the way through, FMA had some of those moments, Elfen Lied had some, Erased is a great one. All I can think of off the top. Erased is new and a must watch if you haven't seen it yet, many ratings of 9/10 and 10/10, I myself would give it a 10/10 even with it's imperfections.
