I was just thinking about all the shows I've watched here on CR and how some of them I just literally clicked on for no reason and found them to be some of the best anime's I've ever seen. I watch a lot of simulcasts and then normally look around and see what has the best reviews or ratings and if they match my tastes and will then watch the one's that have the best word of mouth like Steins Gate, Madoka, or Code Geass. Occasionally I will get bored and flip through their shows alphabetically and look at the comments there or just pick one that seems neat. I've found several really great shows this way and I had really no expectations to find anything even half this good. So far my favorite hidden gems on CR are:

1. Sound of the Sky - this show should be way more popular than it is. It's a very laid back sort of show and it's a bit of a slice of life with some real dramatic themes. The artwork is beautiful especially the setting and backgrounds and it has some of the best characters to ever grace an anime. I don't know what it is about this show but even the OP and ED are warm and welcoming. The whole thing is like a really good book series and just makes you feel like you've come home every time you watch a new episode. I can't recommend it enough.

2. School Live! - I just clicked on this one randomly and it was so NOT what I was expecting. If you haven't seen it then watch it. Do NOT read anything about the show. This one is best if you go into it not knowing anything. Don't do reviews or comments or anything. Just watch the first episode but watch it all the way to the end before making up your mind. This one really took me by surprise.

3. Yuki Yuna is a Hero. - This is another one that's best if you go into it without knowing much. It has some great characters and a few good surprises in store for you. All of the main characters get a chance to shine and grow. The characters are all adorable and it's a really cute show but it has a lot more than just cuteness going for it. Magical Girls ftw.

4. Dusk Maiden of Amnesia - Has a really good storyline and is pretty unique. The characters especially Yuuko who is extremely playful to say the least. I still miss her saying "Teiichi-kun." There's just something about the way she says it. Once you meet her you'll understand. Just a really good story. I think I just clicked it because I liked the title.

5. Another - Not quite as good as the rest of the one's I've found but it was still pretty enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it.

6. Blast of Tempest - A very good story. I don't want to spoil anything but if you like a good show that will cover a lot of ground and has some unique twists and turns then give this one a try. It's not afraid to change gears and go in different directions. There's plenty of character growth and it just has a really good story with a beginning, middle and proper ending. I don't know why I hadn't heard of this one earlier but I wish I had. Animation is also quite nice. It reminds me a bit of the animation in K although not quite as good but very close.

What are your favorite hidden gems you've found on Crunchyroll? I mean to ask this at the bottom of my post but can't seem to find the edit button on this one for some reason. It's been replaced by "edit permalink" lol.

"edit" is a separate word/link from "permalink". They are just close together so it isn't obvious that they refer to different functions. Permalink gives you the numeric position in the thread in the URL bar so that you can refer directly to a specific post, instead of the beginning of the thread.

Dog and Scissors was a fantastic random pick by CR. It starts out grim, but gets very silly and fun and turns all the tropes on their head. http://www.crunchyroll.com/dog-scissors

Hourou Musuko Wandering Son is probably what I would consider to be a hidden gem on here. I remember having to dig pretty far before coming across it, even then, it laid in my queue for quite some time before I got around to it. It helped that it wasn't your usual cliched series.

Dears, must have missed this when it came out, and just found it in a random pick. Very reminiscent of Chobits.

So i went to the very bottom of the popular list and kept going up until i found a show i think is actually good.
The winner is "Sunday without God".

God has abandoned the world causing no more humans to be born and causing people to no longer die. You simply keep going in your body after death as it slowly decomposes unless a gravekeeper, who are emotionless travellers left by god, gives you a proper burial.

It is an amazingly sad but somewhat uplifting series as it shows people making the best of a world without a future. From sprawling Necropolises to Academies desperate for students it is ironically a world that seems truly lived in.

You can easily watch the first 3 episodes as a standalone movie and it's guaranteed to get those emotions going. Give it a try!

Seriously guys, one of the best series I've seen. Super underrated.

Very Studio Ghibli like feel, mixed with K-On!, but with an actual (post apocalyptic!) plot. And an amazing soundtrack.

You will know if you like it after after the first episode, IMO.

This series is still in my queue. I only watched the first 3 episodes before stopping though, the preview for the fourth episode just didn't interest me.
