What are your favorite hidden gems you've found on Crunchyroll? I mean to ask this at the bottom of my post but can't seem to find the edit button on this one for some reason. It's been replaced by "edit permalink" lol.

"edit" is a separate word/link from "permalink". They are just close together so it isn't obvious that they refer to different functions. Permalink gives you the numeric position in the thread in the URL bar so that you can refer directly to a specific post, instead of the beginning of the thread.

Ahh, I see now. Thanks so much for clarifying that. They put them so close together that I thought it was just one link. Learn something new every day.

Mushibugyo. It seems like nobody ever talked about that anime, but I thought it was incredibly solid - especially if you're into light fan service and typical shonen tropes. It begs for a sequel, but I know it'll never receive one. ;_;

Wow, nice. A lot of really good hidden gems here. I've added every show that you'll have mentioned to my queue. Took me a bit to get back here. Have had a crazy week but have a few days off coming up so I plan to use them to watch some of these shows. So far we have:

Dog and Scissors - I was looking at this one a while back. It just sounded so odd that I wanted to try it but hadn't gotten around to it.

Hourou Musuko Wandering Son - Reviews look very good on this one and it deals with a topic I'm always interested in. Mainly treating people as people first and foremost. Gotta give this one a try.

Kamigami no Asobi - Haven't even noticed this one before. Added it.

Nanana's Buried Treasure - Isn't there several of these? Or some continuations? I've been meaning to watch them and they're always at the very top of the ratings lists on most review sites. Also done by A-Pictures who did Sound of the Sky and I have yet to see an anime by them that I haven't enjoyed so that's a major plus.

Dears and Squid Girl - Both look like a lot of fun. Added them. :)

Mazinger Edition Z! - Aww heck, it's a Shogun Warrior. I remember these really old cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid. Really some of the first anime's I'd ever seen that were on HBO. There were several movies and they were called Shogun Warriors. There was Dragun, Danguard Ace, Great Mazinger, Raideen and others. Used to be a comic book also and they had these really thick heavy die cast metal toys that you could play with or use to bludgeon someone with lol. They don't make toys like they used to. I definitely have to check this one out.

Natsume's Book of Friends - Wow, over 4600 Five Star Reviews. How have I not seen this one? Grrr, now I don't know what I want to watch first.

Sunday without God - I actually have that one already in my queue. I have been meaning to watch it and was debating on if I should watch it or Chaika the Coffin Princess next. I think I'll just go ahead and watch this one first. It keeps catching my attention for some reason so I'll just take this as a sign and watch it.

Mononoke - Another one I've always heard good things about. The artwork is a bit odd though which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I should know that every time I avoid a show because it has different artwork I always end up really enjoying it. This just seems to be one of those shows that everyone says that every anime fan should see at least once.

Ano Natsu de Matteru - I have never seen this one before either but it sounds really good and like something I'd be interested in. I'm definitely putting this one higher up on my list.

So many great shows and hidden gems on CR alone. I'm pretty sure there's way more that we haven't found yet. I wonder if I'll eventually ever get around to watching everything on CR? I'm working on it but I have a long way to go. Thanks for all the replies. The only downside to this post is now I have even more shows that I want to watch and have added them all to my ever growing list of must watch anime's. I know right, that's such a bad thing. Woe is me. Oh the humanity. Whatever will I do? I know I'll go watch another anime.

If I find any more that I consider hidden gems then I'll let you know.

Natsume's Book of Friends is getting a season 5 in the Fall. If you start now, you'll have plenty of time to catch up on the first four seasons of Natsume's Book of Friends.

Houzuki no Reitetsu. I only watched it while it was airing because of this background image on CR's homepage. Glad I did.

Well, when I think of "hidden gems", I tend to think of obscure or under-rated stuff that people don't really talk about, for whatever reason. Three come to mind:

Mononoke. It first caught my eye because of the artwork, but I ended up enjoying it.

Humanity Has Declined. Suicidal toast and chickens who cliff dive to Ave Maria.

Arakawa Under the Bridge. I can't even. But I loved it.

NBT- It was a lot of fun, but it's unfinished which is letdown... Guess it wasn't popular enough to get another cour. Sadly it's only this one season.

Sunday Without God- Really only the first 3 episodes are worth watching. But those three episodes are fantastic. Would recommend. As for Chaika, its a solid adventure show with some great elements. Gave it 8/10. 2nd season is slightly worse though...

Ano Natsu- Really great and memorable show. It's a romantic-drama in the same vein as Kokoro Connect, Nagi no Asukara, or Anohana. Not quite as good as those, but it has some fantastic scenes nonetheless. Especially the main romance which was very satisfying since they actually start dating mid-way through the show.

Watched this a couple months back and remembered it. It's only one episode but it's really good. It's not in Japanese (it's in Korean) but there are subs and it's low budget. But it's a really good one shot story

Ghost Stories

I'm not quite sure whether this is underrated or not, but I haven't come across any much discussion for this anime. Or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Dunno.

Watch the English dub--it's fudgin' ridiculous. Not to mention hilarious. Apparently the anime didn't do so well in Japan, so the original script was reworked to make it more comedic than its Japanese counterpart.

First impressions are extremely important and I think Kotoura-san first impression is great. So is the rest...
