BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A 23-year-old woman bitten by a nurse shark in Boca Raton, Florida, was taken to the hospital with the shark still attached to her arm, CBS affiliate WPEC reported.

According to Boca Raton Fire Rescue, the call came in at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, advising that someone was bitten by a shark. Crew responded to the scene.

The shark was killed before fire rescue arrived, but firefighters were unable to remove it from the woman's arm.

A spokesperson for the Boca Raton Ocean Rescue told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel the woman remained calm and there was a little blood. A splint board was used to support the woman's arm and the shark as she lay on the stretcher.

The woman was taken to Boca Regional Hospital. She was in stable condition.

Kids who witnessed the incident said the "young lady" and her friends were tormenting the poor little guy grabbing it by the tail and pulling it around. It wasn't the shark's fault but the poor guy died defending himself. He was such a cute tiny little thing too.

if she had just let the shark underwater, the shark would eventually let her go. she was not seen as a prey, but only as a threat.
rip.

Sad they killed the little one. With a shark that small all they would have needed was two flat things like credit cards, one to slide between her skin and the upper jaw and one for the lower. It would have freed her skin from the curved teeth without tearing.
