I'm pretty sure if social media, search engines and online videos have taught civilization anything it's that the Internet brings out the worst in everybody. Doesn't matter the country, gaming is no exception. Also if you think about it is there a genre of gaming that people take more seriously then MMO's? Overly-serious always equals theirs going to be D-bag's.... its science.

I play video games to have fun, but when it comes to being on a team or playing a team-based game, it's really hard to have fun when one of your teammates has the mental capacity of a two year old and the hand eye coordination of a sea-sponge.

Because everyone is a special snowflake who wants to blame it all on misogyny.

Because Americans are a bunch of snobby, selfish, elitist wannabe and entitled wannabe assholes. And trust me, this isn't just limited to the online gaming community. I work in retail and I deal with the same thing on a daily basis, usually more than once a day as well, when I'm at work. There's a lot of people out there who think that they're better than you or who think that they're entitled to more just because they have more experience, a better job, etc..

There's people like that all over the world, not just America. Nice generalization, though.

Americans are just competitive. What's so wrong with that?

It's wrong when you start to put others down and refuse to be helpful and kind

You make a friend out of that Random, add each other. Then try and do dungeons together till you find another person and so on. Thats how i made all my gaming friends over 18 years

That's where you try to help them out give them tips and stuff :D

Not everyone is good in games some of us suck and do have terrible hand eye coordination.
We all start bad sometimes heck i could say in a lot of games i started people could have said the same about me

Whatttttttt
I mean it's not that I don't agree but starting a thread calling someone else toxic is a bit toxic right?

In therms of gaming I really think the most elitist group of gamers I've ever played with is Japanese people honestly. They get rea;;y picky in games and think there is only ONE true way to clear a quest/mission.

That's just my opinion. I'm just here to have fun, and I hate the feeling when I think I'm making someone angry , even if I'm not in the wrong lol

eh i guess it's toxic but it's more of a pointing out an observance as i said i'm most likely really wrong but i wanted to share my experience.

i see plenty of Japanese let's play super mario maker levels, and i don't think i ever remember them raging at a tough level.
at most, they would say "wow, this level is very difficult". let's play by NA players, though, have people raging over "difficult" courses.
Japanese players seem a lot more patient, and i suspect this also applies to other games, such as mmorpgs. this would explain why in NA server, if you are new to the game, people will rage at you for making a mistake or taking your time in a party quest, while the same probably doesn't happen (with the same frequency) on Japanese servers.

A lot of "let's plays" are more of a comedy show than watching someone play the game. They try to dramatize it.
