In light of the recent news related to Kyoto Animation, what do you feel about this studio? Some of their most prominent works includes Clannad + After Story, Haruhi, Hyouka, Free!, etc.

For the second year in a row though, they did not win any prize as reported from this week's news:

The Kyoto Animation Awards is earning a reputation as one of the most difficult prizes to actually win: for the 2nd year in a row, the KyoAni Awards jury has announced that they will not be awarding any official prizes in the novel, scenario, and manga categories. As Crunchyroll previously reported, no prizes were granted for the 6th annual Kyoto Animation Awards either.

KyoAni isn't a studio I prefer, but I don't hate them.

Most of their work is not for me, but I do like some of their work as well. I also respect the effort they put in as well as their passionate staff.

Eh, the only KyoAni works I actually really liked were Hyouka and Amagi Brilliant Park. The rest of their works were not interesting to me save KnK. I will say they do outstanding animation, though. Kyoukai no Kanata's storytelling stunk like crazy, but it was absolutely beautiful to watch.

Love a lot of their series:

Only thing I hope they do is stay in either light-fan service (Myriad Colors Phantom World) or go back to not doing it instead focusing on intriguing stories. Last thing I want is their talent wasted on full-blown fan service b.s.

Love me some Amagi. I was really hoping for another season, but i think that's a pipe dream at this point. Plus it's probably not needed anyways.

I'm curious, which works have won the grand prize? I wan it as reference. As a studio, there are moment where they do great animes like Haruhi, but after K-on they rely too much on moe, so it's difficult for me to like most of its works.

I liked a few of their works, but they aren't my favorite studio..

❀ Hyouka
❀ Clannad
❀ Beyond the Boundary
❀ Full Metal Panic!
❀ Tamako Market
❀ Sound! Euphonium

And well, I didn't really like Amagi, even though the fanservice was epic. I don't seem to enjoy comedies that much ):

KyoAni is probably one of my least liked studios out there. I never actually liked anything from them besides the first season and the movie of Haruhi Suzumiya, which were both awesome. But what they did with the second season of Haruhi made me lose all my respect for them.

Also, the fact that most of their shows rely on cuteness and moe more than anything else made me even less interested in what they offer. Nobody can deny that their animation is beautiful, but it's a shame that most of what they do for anime doesn't interest me at all.

They're really good in terms of art and animation, but they keep making mediocre shows. And then there's Myriad Colors Phantom World which is legitimately terrible. I really love their style and I want to like them more, but there are only a few KyoAni shows that I enjoy, and fewer that I would consider really good shows.

Clannad is my favorite series, by far. And I've seen quite a lot.

Hyouka was 10/10, both for animation and writing.

Nichijou is an amazing and memorable comedy.

Beyond the Boundary was impressively animated and extremely charming. Also boasts the best filler-episode of all time-

and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is a masterpiece of a film that really shows off what they are capable of.

They may have a few mediocre series, but they've put out enough gems to make them my favorite studio.

They also treat their employees better than any other studio. That's a major factor, and it shows up in their creations.
