It feels like every song I hear has the same damn repetition of chords, is in the same key, etc...

Is there any merit to this? Or am I just going crazy.... >_>

What shows have you been watching? I personally haven't noticed anything, so I can't say for sure, but if you share the names of these anime we could come up with something without having to consider yourself crazy.

Go watch the Bahamut and Ushio and Tora openings.

It's just you.

You might actually be correct to a certain degree. You'd have to talk to someone who's into Musicology. Someone who has taken the time to study music theory, specifically. A lot of current music is built on a three-chord progression that stems back to, The Beach Boys.

are we talking ED and OP or actual osts . I love osts, and anime tend to share composers.

i've never liked op/eds lol. they're so darn long and i don't understand the language so lyrics have no meaning. even if they are translated they don't make sense. so in that sense they are kind of all the same to me lol but since i skip them idk if they're in the same key or whatever

I was literally thinking the exact opposite of this after watching the latest episodes of Koutetsujou no Kabaneri.

1)50-75% sound similar since they use the VA's as units on most of them, while the other 25-50% are actual groups, duos or individuals singing the op/eds
2)example of #1 is Renegade by Stereo Dive sounds like their Two Divided Rainbow track off the Beyond the Boundary op single
3) some of the linked youtube examples don't help as they are sped up, the Egoist and Kawaii Complex ones are uptempo'd
4) Most have vocals compared to pure instrumental/electronic as they don't sell otherwise, the Brynhilder one is only on the OST for the series so you're SOL if you only wanted the OP.
5) the songs are written to match the show tones/themes so of course they'll start sounding similar when shows have similar settings to them.
6) don't like em? skip em but some people enjoy them.
