they probably were brought to Florida illegally by an unlicensed reptile collector who either didn't contain them properly, allowing them to escape, or, more sinisterly, planted them in the Everglades in hopes they would multiply.

somehow, that seems very plausible. collector from Florida buys a young croc. doens't know how to take care of it. releases in the wild, and the croc multiplies.

Crocodiles don't divide like that.

Here's hoping they managed to catch the problem early enough to do something about it. If the population is well-established enough than it might be that nothing will get rid of them. Invasive species flourish when they end up in a new ecosystem that provides for their needs without having any creatures capable of preying on them.

Good 'ol Florida. That's what they get for all that wild animal adopting and attractions, I guess.

Can a crocodile even live in Florida? This doesn't seem like anything to worry about unless Crocodiles can thrive in Fl like those snakes (forgot what kind, I believe in the everglades)

Well, we have gators so...probably? Crocodiles and gators probably don't have too much of an environmental difference, right?
