I was reading an interesting article on sex robots out of Men's Health this morning. The two primary companies involved in development claim that within the next 5 to 15 years you will be able to obtain a robot designed to not only have sex but function as an actual person capable of falling in love with you, sharing your interests, and, of course, fulfilling your every fantasy with as much enjoyment from the act as you have.

This leaves the big question: If this was to come true and robots existed on such a level for such a purpose would you give up a real human partner for such a machine?

Not a chance, there's a large difference between how a human you love can make you feel and how a robot made for sex will make you feel.

No, I prefer the challenges of human interaction. Each person has their unique personalities and quirks about them. A robot can be programmed say, do, and interact anyway you desire. That wouldn't be fun at all. I like a challenge, not absolute control and submission.

Love at least in my opinion is unconditional, and if programmed wouldn't feel genuine.

Being intimate with a robot, the female body is amazing. It would be very challenging to replicate the mind, actual touch, scent, and feel of a real female.

I could imagine a bunch of horny guys who love absolute control and submission smacking their robots around and treating them like crap.

I honestly have a fear of the day society comes to this but also a bit of awe at seeing it come to fruition. For any wondering why I'd suggest you either read or watch The Stepford Wives series and Westworld series. When we give the artificial lifeforms the ability to feel what's to stop hatred, greed and jealousy from creeping into their emotional set? What's to keep them from standing up and striking back at their oppressors?

They're good as friends. Anything more than that is a bit extreme.

No. I don't "replace" people with masturbatory tools, though I may enjoy them.

You mean like a robotic girlfriend for in between relationships, and you just store them in a closet or shed when not in use?

This thread really makes me think of pixie from Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei.

I am not particularly interested in having a conversation or sharing interests with a sex toy. Also I think the time line might be optimistic, A.I isn't even conversational and the "emotions" are a facade, comply hollow, as they lack the self awareness required for the outward expression to have any meaning.

I can make my PC have "emotions".

std::cout << "I am happy (^v^) \n";
