Posted 11/25/06
my mom bought me an ipod nano for christmas. yeah, she tells me stuff. anyway, im not that big of a music listener (turns away from staring). yeah, so my dilema is what should i fill my pod with?

i've got everybody i know to help me but most of my friends are kinda similar in their tatses so i came to all you guys. suggestions? it doesn't have to be an exact song but if you point to an artist or genre that'd help.

Trivium

Daft Punk

Billy Talent

Chiodos

Primus

Incubus

And use it as a flash drive to store files. You could down load stories form the internet, convert them to the appropriate text files, then have some light reading on the go.

I dont know what kind of guy you are but if you wanna get away from lame cloned punk bands try this = Bjork, Radiohead , Dresden dolls , White stripes , Aphex twin , and Beastie boy are kinda cool. (and if you really feel mature enough for it....bob dylan.)

but i would suggest the following

Norma Jean
Interpol
Nine inch nails
Job For A Cowboy
The Sounds Of Animals Fighting
The Jonbenet
Smashing Pumpkins

and to the bloke who suggested chiodos and Trivum....no....dont try to ruin this kids musical experience

I have a long list of death, thrash, and power metal if the OP is into that type of music.

Dude, Live is a great band (best album is "throwing copper"). A perfect circle, Blue october, Bush, Modest Mouse, Pepper, Rise against, Snow Patrol, Sublime, Weezer, White stripes and if your into dance, She wants revenge is decent.

Also, on iTunes, you can buy Audiobooks, so its like you can listen to the book. They're pretty expensive though.

You could put some Hellogoodbye on it.. They're good and make happy music

All these people are throwing out names, but i suggest you develop your own likes and dislikes based on listening. So start by figuring out some music you do like, the genre, then look for similar stuff.

Time's all time 100 best albums is a good place to start, to get the influential/classic stuff: http://www.time.com/time/2006/100albums/

I'ld also suggest some podcasts:
- Tedtalks are video lectures which have leading public figures which are intresting: http://www.ted.com/tedtalks/
- Point of inquiry tackles issues of the paranormal, science, and religion: http://www.pointofinquiry.org/

You can read notes on an ipod but i find it pretty annoying most of the time, but if you bored sure put some stuff on it. I have the u.s. constitution on mine and some philosophy essays.

White stripes???? god, Jack white makes me wanna jam a hot soldering iron in my ear every time i hear his off key , whiney voice .

Go with something decent that you know you can trust , like the eagles, or ccr , or bob seger , the old ones are still the best ones
