Oh I saw this earlier....

Christ, just let it be. Why does everyone need a partner all of a suddent? I get that people need diversity but why does Captain America and Elsa need a partner all of a sudden when they've done fine on their own?

And anyway, I'm sure in their legendary backlog, Marvel can scrounge up a homosexual hero somewhere and let him/her shine on their own.

Screw Thor, I'd rather see Tom Hiddleston

I admit, Loki would be a prime choice as well, in character of course.

Well, in Disney's case they have historically been pathologically incapable of having a female lead character that doesn't end up married off before she's old enough to drink, so. That Elsa even exists in the first place is kind of a miracle onto itself.

I'm not sure saying Marvel should "scrounge up a homosexual hero" would really help matters. >.>

That said, many of Marvel's prominent gay characters are in the X-Men universe ( since it resonates well with it story wise ). Which Marvel can't use because of how anal Sony is about the movie licenses. Marvel can't even say mutant in its movies. It wasn't even allowed to call Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch by, well, Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch. Its a miracle onto itself that they allowed Spiderman to be in Civil War.

Y'know, if they looked up who Bucky was in the original 40's comics, it might cool the idea somewhat?...

(Oh, sure, we can all chortle over the 60's Batman & Robin jokes, but jokes about Captain NAMBLA and Bucky would be "perpetuating an intolerant stereotype"? Pick one, guys.)

And the worse part is, they're being taken SERIOUSLY. Someone's got to tell the rest of the world not to pay attention.

Haven't all the movies had scenes about how he still loves Peggy Carter? I don't understand these people.

Well, not ALL the movies--
Civil War builds up the romance with Sharon Carter started in #2, thus leading the groundwork to her eventually becoming Agent 13, as necessitated by print-comic canon.

Corporate agendas overrule fangirl shipping, every time.

No, Hemsworth's already busy playing the Emasculatedly-Dumb Unthreatening-Male-Fantasy Boy-Toy in the Ghostbusters reboot.

(Where, reportedly, he's the funniest reason to watch it, and arguably the only reason.)

Wouldn't mind because I don't think it's a big deal, but it just would never happen.

One thing I see more possible is that one day they'll make a TV series or something about the Young Avengers. The main character there (Wiccan) is gay.

And is he the Designated Team Jerk like Northstar was in Alpha Flight?

Nah, some say Wiccan is too emo but I like him. He's also the son of someone important:

I love Young Avengers, especially the series written by Kieron Gillen.

If he needs a partner I'd rather it be a dude because there's little representation for gays

But that's what annoys me, that every character needs a partner! To these people, a character isn't complete on their own, and that's a bad message

Are you surprised? It's easy to get people riled. Anger statistically gets more clicks and shares than any other type of news.

I'm sick of hearing this. Lets just make every character of every show/book/anything asexual and be done with it. Literally every character that's popular any more, some group wants them to be gay or a lesbian.

Its also become half the driving force behind American politics as well. Its kind of surreal to watch at this point. Like....what do they do when they run out of things to be angry about? What if you're all tuckered out over being angry about Elsa and just aren't feeling it this time with Captain America? Do you get upset with yourself for not being angry enough? Do you long for the bygone days of your youth when you could stay angry for a week straight?

Do you, in the dark of night when everyone else is asleep, sneak downstairs to the kitchen to fetch a container of strawberry cheesecake Haagan Dazs. Before you sit down in front of Youtube and watch an endless supply of puppy videos in a mixture of guilt and self loathing? While keeping one tab open to Bill O'Reilly so you can quickly switch to it in case someone wakes up and walks in on you?

This looks less like any sort of serious campaign and more like an ongoing joke / fanfic wish fulfillment. If thats all it takes to get some people's knickers in a twist than god forbid they ever learn about rule 34.

Ben Shapiro there especially needs to pull the rake out of his ass.

That is what the media is now, and really has been for a while: wherever the public starts to run, the media spurs it on. Small outrage becomes huge outrage and we have worldwide shaming, jokes become serious campaigns and we get Donald Trump. What can never happen becomes what must happen - because it's entertaining. For now the consumers can talk back to the creators, and no one knows what little thing might end up spread across the internet. A trending Twitter hashtag actually means quite a lot now, as we create our own story.

So take both Shapiro and the fanfic wish fulfillment seriously, because I guarantee that they're taking it seriously.
