Wow how dare Blizzard put Tracer in a slightly sexual pose... And that tight outfit! Can they be any more blatant in trying to sexualize a female character in a video game?! (sarcasm btw for those of you who can't tell.)

But oh yeah, all the stuff below is fine cause reasons. The pains of being an extremely popular game developer I guess... Imo the new pose is far sexier than the old one anyways so I can't say I mind the decision much.

This was quite a while ago, but if I remember correctly Blizzard changed her pose to fit her personality. While Tracer looks sexy, her personality is a bit bubbly and innocent. People just had to generalize the reason behind it being that it was "too sexy". When really, the other characters of the same profile kept their characteristics. There's always a debate on the design choice of characters everywhere, and the lot of other characters in this game were subject to that too. Yet had nothing to do with why her pose was altered.

I was just about to add the both Mercy and Widowmaker have the same pose as the "before" pose in game.

I think the complaint was from a mother showing it to her young child? Something about children and role models.

But the game isn't meant for children to start with...

Its rated 12 and up. But no, the complaint arose on the forums that it didn't fit her character. Blizzard was already thinking about changing it internally before anyone else brought it up. So its not really a case of moral outrage quashing artist creativity.

Besides, given the pose they replaced it with and the fact Widowmaker's inhuman hips/ass thrust/high heels are still in the game I don't see what anyone is complaining about. Most the female characters are still wearing skintight cat suits.

If anything they should go all Hawkeye Project and give one of the male characters the exact same butt pose.

Ah, I see. Point retracted.

To heap upon the dogpile: nothing was censored. The internet blew up for a bit over censorship, then Blizz released what's essentially a pinup girl pose, and everyone felt silly for caring so much.

What an age when creators don't even have agency over their own creation. Creativity and harmless fun stifled by the perpetually offended, this time over a figure displaying a bum which is offensive to women... somehow. I imagine it's also racist and perpetuates rape culture.

Clearly it was a foiled plot by SJWs to censor video games.

I've been wanting to say something about this video for a while now, so I might as well say it here.

I feel that this video totally missed out on the idea that these characters aren't designed to be perfectly uniform. I think TotalBiscuit pointed this out quite nicely with his parody video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydii76-1l5w) whether he meant to or not. These characters are designed to be flexible in many ways and they are designed this way to allow different people to shape their own characters. My tracer may not be the same as your tracer, and because of that, while there are several core principles to each character, there is a lot of room for drawing outside the lines. If one person wants their Tracer to be sexy, it isn't defying the core nature of the character, it is simply providing another minor alteration to who that character is. There is nothing wrong with that when looking at characters in the gaming space, because these characters are so often designed to be slightly flexible to allow people to make their version of the character unique.

At the end of the day, the Winston pose was left in the game despite being 100x more out of character than the Tracer pose. What does that tell you?

I thought they were going with this.

ya i agree thats exactly what is modern feminism wants plus they do seem support the right for Muslims to oppress woman, Hippocrates!.

i bet the sjw love to attack anime shows but i hope they don't get as much success. sometimes the characters they get so offended by are created/designed by a girl ive even heard some hentai creators known for producing some extreme content are female. also they seem to have trouble separating reality and fiction which is troubling especially when they are spreading it. plus i think the looks they give most fictional characters maybe exaggeration to various degree but i would say are more realistic in most cases then for example making the character outright obese like some people want when the character is supposed to be fit.
