Yeah everything about it was so perfect it is the only anime that I've rewatched I heard it didn't get a second because the writer didn't want to mess it up or something

That's interesting, considering it's based off of a manga. You'd think there wouldn't be much to 'mess up' if there was more content to base it off of.

I'm aware of that i'm late when i write this but little correction. You probably already know it but it's based on Light Novel, NOT manga. Yeah, there are both but LN came first.

I don't mean to be an idiot by writing that, just wanted to correct.

I always wondered why there wasn't more of this. It's one of those shows that just stops when there seemed to be so much more story to tell.

Was this not popular enough? A lot of people seemed to have enjoyed it.

The anime world is full of really good series that end too soon. I really liked the devil is a part timer, and would love a second season. I'd also like a second season of Ouran High School Host Club, a third of Noragami, and several others. And they'd better do a second season of Yuri on Ice, or I may have to fly to Japan and do some ass-kicking.

I've never heard a great reason why so many series end too soon.

BD/DVD sales in Japan averaged 11,802 per video volumes, which is quite good.

To compare that to a more recent series many will be familiar with (and which is getting a second series in January), KonoSuba averaged 10,845 sales per video volume.

I would put money down that White Fox will release Re:Zero S2 before they even touch Part Timer again.

Relating to my previous post, Re:Zero actually has slightly lower BD/DVD sales, currently with an average of 10,147 sales per video volume.

For non-original anime (i.e., based on source material), however, the studio rarely has much say on whether another series is made. Much of the time they are just the "hired help", and even if they were a production committee member, that doesn't bar the company holding the rights to the source material from forming a new one for the next series.

Sadly, once you pass around 2 years after a series has ended with no word on a sequel, the odds of it happening drop dramatically. (For those that might bring up AoT taking 4 years, keep in mind it has been official that a sequel was coming since not long after the original series ended).

To be fair from ikki tousen to code geass there are always exceptions - it's always weird when a show does well though yet no sign of a follow up season. I guess most either prefer to just shift novels or after a long break throw in a movie like Majestic Prince or No Game No Life (though madhouse being notorious for one season efforts doesn't help).

Curious about other break out hits like Prison School. There's so many shows we never see a season 2 despite popularity, others simply because bad sales such as Btoooom or Rokka and the six Braves as having material in print does not mean a guaranteed second season.
