I can't even install the 2.07 version. When I try I get a 505 error from the play store. Uninstalled hoping it was just the update but now I can't even install the app from scratch.

Try wiping the Google Play Store's cache before attempting the update.

Installed the new update and the app is working just fine again.

Thanks for the quick work.

I have Android ver 6.0.1 on my Galaxy.

Even cache wiping didn't help.

Already did. Went through every troubleshooting step Google offered in the 505 error. Still doesn't install. Tried it again just now and nope.

Getting the -505 error when I try to update from 2.0.5 to 2.0.7 using Google Play Store.

LG G4 (Verizon, stock ROM, non-root) running Android Marshmallow (6.0)
Updating via local WiFi connection. Other apps updated just fine on this connection moments earlier.

Tried to update, error -505

Restarted device.
Tried to update, error -505

Wiped cache for Google Play Services
Wiped cache for Google Play Store
Restarted device
Tried to update, error -505

Wiped cache for Google Play Services
Wiped cache for Google Play Store
Wiped data for Crunchyroll
Restarted device
Tried to update, error -505

That marks troubleshooting steps from both Google and XDA off the list. What next?

Edit: Tried some of the more creative approaches I saw online..

Enabled and updated Audible + Amazon Kindle
No affect
Uninstalled all updates to Google Play Store (disabled app, then re-enabled as stock app)
No affect

Lots of resources online are saying this is like an APK issue, meaning someone on CR's side of things probably needs to get a look at this. Thus, I'm submitting a support request.

Putting my premium preferential support treatment to work for everyone.

Moar edit: got a response already...

Hi NeoPhoenixTE,

Thank you for getting in touch with us, and we do apologize for the inconvenience. This is a known issue that's actually affecting a number of users, and our team is hard at work putting together a fix for the app.

In the meantime, we are recommending to view the content via the website using your internet connection.

Thank you for your patience and keep an eye on the forums for any new announcements.

Take care,

Kyoko
Crunchyroll Customer Representative

Hey Crunchyroll here is an idea, why not pull the current version from the Play Store and put the last one that worked back up until you fix it.

Yes. At first when this started happening I cleared the data for the Crunchyroll app. When that didn't work I tried uninstalling the app. That didn't work. I have also force stopped the Play Store and cleared the cache and data on it and still isn't working. I even tried that last step again just a few minutes ago. The only way I have been able to get Crunchyroll back on my phone is to get it from the Amazon Store which as I said earlier in this thread is still on version 0.9.7. That version doesn't have the new layout, nor the stream quality option so I would prefer to not run that version.

What ever version was before the one that was released a couple of days ago worked fine on my device. Again I am on a OnePlus One running the stock software and not rooted. Android version is 6.0.1. I also still have plenty of space on my device, 40.64 GB of free space.

I'm in same situation as BluGuy.. non-rooted phone. running Android 6.0.1 though on a Samsung S6 Edge and getting error -505 on Play Store, right when Crunchyroll App tries to install.

There went my night of Chrome-casting..

Just to let you know there are several people leaving reviews on the Play Store that are having the error -505 problem as well.
