It's true and I think it's one of the things that Mr. Miyazaki talked about when he said that otaku ruined the anime industry. The anime creators now look for inspiration in other anime instead of the life, nature etc.

Good point, I got carried away counting Attack on Titan's gas cylinders.

I wasn't making an argument, I was just looking for steampunk anime to watch.
Princess Mononoke is the only other steampunk-feudal anime I could think of.

Huh... good question.

Google turns up a few but I haven't seen them to know if they're good or not. I'll be putting Steamboy on my list though, Katsuhiro Otomo's name is enough to at least be interested. It's Victorian England though, not seeing anything feudal.

It's not yet another homage to ye olde days of space operas like Aldnoah, it's the second ever take on a steampunk feudal setting.

What's the first steampunk-feudal anime you were thinking of here?

Good point, I got carried away counting Attack on Titan's gas cylinders.

Samurai 7 anime is sort of too I guess.

There's a difference between inspired and cheap rip-off.
