I've kept my waifu, even when having girlfriends. Waifu are forever. I've even managed to tell some that I'd stay with them when I marry the rich waifu.

I personally wouldn't care if a significant other had fictional character crushes. They're just characters. I happen to have some myself. ^^ I just wouldn't be ok if they were incredibly obsessed with the character, as if she were real.

Only possible if you somehow keep it hidden, or like others have said, the chic is a weirdo or major geek like that too.
I mean iam a grown man and i have some anime wall scrolls hanging in my lounge room, that's not on some waifu thing (all different characters) and even that is considered strange.
Some girls think the art looks cool though and understand the like. But for the most part it makes you seem strange.
Maybe not so much when your a teenager or something.

A guy at my work was one of those guys that had never moved out, collects figurines, has no social life outside of work asaide from on line gaming. But he now has a really cute young Asian girlfriend that he met in FFXI and plays FFIV with, she loves anime and gaming and cosplay.
So, not sure if he ever had a waifu but dreams can come true.
He's not one of those really nerdy seeming guys though despite everything that i said about him. He's not a nerd with poor social skills and he's not ugly or anything.

Well, no 3D women I'm likely to meet are going to be as cool as my waifus, so I guess I have no motivation to try to pursue a relationship with a 3D woman.

waifu monogamist?...
