Here in the DC metro area, a lot of things happen during Memorial Day weekend. Arlington Cemetery gets it's flags placed by soldiers: http://wtop.com/arlington/2016/05/soldiers-place-230k-flags-annual-event-arlington-national-cemetery/

This morning the National Cathedral is holding the blessing of the bikes for Rolling Thunder. http://cathedral.org/event/blessing-of-the-bikes/

The Blue Angels put on air shows around the area and in Annapolis.

The President places a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Visit/Events-and-Ceremonies/Ceremonies-and-Traditions/Wreath-Layings

And the entire city is overrun with Rolling Thunder http://rollingthunderrun.com/

Additionally, many people have cook-outs, the public pools open for business, and other people travel for the holiday to the beaches or to visit friends or family.

This year I was invited to my cousin's Rolling Thunder party. Her boyfriend was a Ranger and his buddies come into town from all over the country to ride in Rolling Thunder, so Saturday her family holds a massive cookout for all the out of towners. Then Sunday they all ride down to participate in the Rolling Thunder events.

If you live in the USA, do you have any plans for this long weekend? In other countries, do you celebrate Memorial Day or Decoration Day? If you do, when is it? What do you do for it?

I usually take the time to donate to living veterans. Usually something to do with housing. my birthday is around that time to so I usually have a bit of extra money.

That's pretty awesome. Some people in my family go down to the cemetery and clean the gravestones of the veterans on Memorial Day. When I lived in Mississippi, you'd see church groups in the cemeteries cleaning and decorating the graves with fresh wreaths of flowers.

I used to donate way less 4 years ago but I had more time to volunteer.

I still think it's impressive that you donate what time you can.

Sorry, they're not really doing the Telethons anymore. Now it's just two hours of charity-infomercials and a link to a website.

HuastecoOtaku that sounds like fun. How long will you stay in Vegas?

Ejanss were you planning anything over the weekend, or will you just be watching the infomercials?
