Kind of doesn't surprise me. I had a Hulu sub for a bit and while I loved it, I always through they had over expanded in the anime area. I figured they'd have to nix some of the under-performing shows at some point.

It looks like most of those shows are safe now. It is true that they are getting a bit more selective. This season they aren't simulcasting very many titles. One of the things I like about them is the fact that they have a huge backlog, though, so it would have been incredibly disappointing if this had happened.

I wonder if the shows they're cutting are due to lack of profit and views?

K is safe, so I'm fine. I'll probably keep my sub, at least until Viz decides to put out DVDs of Missing Kings and Return of Kings. They need dubs badly, too, season 1's dub was so good!

I actually just got an account to Hulu to specifically watch the Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash series, and have enjoyed several titles that weren't available on Crunchyroll. I'm finishing up the Assassination Classroom right now (40 something episodes in 2 days, my eyes hurt), and then I will be cancelling my subscription.

Similar to what LezRockEm stated, I'm curious why you didn't go with a Funimation subscription instead. Those are their series, and they are less expensive than Hulu and commercial free without paying extra. In fact, if you aren't interested in dubs, their SubPass subscription is even less expensive than CR.

I got the Hulu subscription because I was watching the Grimgar series through a free site and it was hosted by Hulu, so I just went there and started an account. I didn't know Funimation had its own subscription service. But, I don't mind getting the Hulu service for a couple months just to check out what they have. On Hulu, I've watched Grimgar, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicles, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Overlord, Seraph of the End, FairyTail the movie, Maoyu, Tower of Druaga, and now I'm finishing up with Assassination Classroom. A lot of which I didn't have high expectations for, but enjoyed watching them.

So, no real reason I picked Hulu over a different service, just wanted to give it a try and I'm not familiar with everything that's out there.

You can take solace in that one of those titles was exclusive to Hulu:

I'm currently on the first month of a commercial-free subscription there (after they offered me a 30 day trial), and that was among the first titles I've watched. I've also made good use of the live action side as well, watching or sampling a number of US TV series. Given my limited free time these days, however, I don't know that I'll continue the sub. Hulu not offering an annual sub at a discount makes it too easy to drop them and pick them up again later when I have more time or they have another stockpile of stuff I want to view.

Out of curiosity, did you view Maoyu on Hulu before becoming a CR premium member, or was there another reason for viewing it there instead of on CR?

I had Crunchyroll first, but only notied it when I was browsing through Hulu and queued it on impulse and watched it a couple weeks after that. I use my old PS3 to watch both services on my main TV, and the Crunchyroll app has more intuitive controls for a console controller, so I actually prefer to watch stuff on Crunchy roll, but too lazy to check if it's available when I've already found it on Hulu. Laziness may be my greatest motivation for most of my life's decisions...

By the way, Maoyu was better than I thought it would be

Assuming you haven't seen it already, if you like Maoyu, you'd probably enjoy Spice and Wolf.

And the countdown is on. At midnight Pacific, a crapload of titles will be vaulted. Just 10 hours remain. I'm hoping that CR can pick up those titles that currently can't be seen anywhere, and in particular the Bandai Visual titles.

Losing options sucks, but in my case not much is going. They're losing one anime that I started and then dropped and two others that I was going to check out but hadn't started yet. In my opinion the only highlight that isn't available elsewhere is Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl), which was good but not amazing. More importantly they're not losing Azumanga Daioh or Clannad. Still, I literally just started the no-ad trial on Sunday, so this might cause to me to drop the service sooner than I would have.

This was one of the titles I was holding out to show up on CR (since it is a NISA title), but with it set to expire and myself currently at the beginning of a commercial-free sub, it was the title I watched over the holiday weekend. Perhaps with it no longer available on Hulu, NISA will finally make it available here.

Are you not a fan of Daily Lives of High School Boys (another NISA title there set to expire tonight), or did you miss it?

Missed it; I'd seen it pop up but never looked into it. Doing so now it sounds like it would right up my alley too. Oh well, hopefully it shows up elsewhere.
